War on Three Fronts
Once the war begins fighting begins on the western front between Germany and France/England. On the eastern front was between Germany and Russia, and the on Italian front between Italy/France and Germany. -
Sinking of The Lusitania
There were rumors spreading in Germany that the British ship The Lusitania (a cruise ship) was carrying explosives while there were passengers on board. So Germany took a submarine to the Lusitania and shot one torpedo at the ship and in 18 minutes the ship was already fully submerged. -
The Zimmerman Telegram
The sinking of the Lusitania however was frustrating for the US it still was not enough to bring them into the war, until the Zimmerman Telegram was intercepted by the US. The telegram was headed for Mexico from Germany saying tha if Mexico ever got into a conflict with the US that Mexico would be a German ally. This outraged the US and they joined the war against the Central powers. -
The US Turns The Tides of War
After the zimmerman telegram, the US joined the war. By joining the war they drastically turned the tides. It was a point where things were not looking so good for the Allied Powers then the US joins and the Allies actually end up winning the war. This led to an Armistice which ended the Fighting against the Germans and the US.
