Italian Invasion of Ethiopia
The initial attacks by the Italians began in 1932, though it had obviously been planned for some time. They gradually seized territory along the border which belonged to the Ethiopians. The British were present as observers , but didnt intervere,because they didnt want to provoke war with Italy. All the Europeans assumed Ethiopia would fold and make concessions, rather than fight a war they couldn't win against the Italians. They were wrong.The Ethiopians fought for their land. -

Great Britain & France had a treaty with Poland that stated if a nation invaded any of the three treaty nations, it was the same as invading all three nations. So when Germany invaded Poland, it was as if Germany had invaded Great Britain & France also. -

The attack led to America's fighting in War World 2. 3581 Americans were killed or wounded, 347 warplanes were destroyed and six out of the fleet of eight battleships in the harbour were sunk. -
