Hitler Becomes Chancellor
Adolf Hitler became Germany's chancellor on the 30th of January, 1933. Hitler assassinated the chancellor before him which lead to Hitler's placing. A chancellor is the head of Government in some European countries, Germany is an example. If Hitler hadn't of become chancellor, World War 2 may not have happened as Hitler would not have been leader of Germany. If he was not leader his plans would not have taken place. -
Mussolini Joins Hitler
On the 14th of May, 1938, in a speech in Rome, Benito Mussolini announced that he will fight democratics alongside facist companion Adolf Hitler. Hitler wanted an alliance with the Italians as he knew they were a very strong military base and would be a force to be reckoned with. This links in with all of World War 2 as their partnership had a major impact on the entire war. -
Hitler Aims For Sudetenland
Hitler makes a plan to invade Sudetenland from the region Czechosklovakia on the 12th of September, 1938. With this plan, Hitler promised he would give piece to the rest of Czechoslovakia aslong as his plans went forward with invading Sudetenland. But this promise is broken when he continues invading the rest of Czechosklovakia on March 15th, 1939. This all ties in together as it all has to do with the Czechoslovakia region. -

Germany Invades Poland
Also known as the Blitzkrieg, Poland was destroyed through tanks, bombs and air warfare. This was a very important part of the war as it was what made the 'phoney war' happen. This ties in with Poland's surrendering as this is what brought on the surrendering. -
Britain, Australia, New Zealand and France Declare War Against Germany
On the 3rd of September, 1939, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and France declared war against Germany. After Germany failed to reach the deadline the Allies set, the British prime minister at the time - Neville Chamberlain - stated 'I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received and consequently this country is at war with Germany'. This leaded to the start of World War 2. -
The Phoney War
The Phoney War began on the 3rd of September, 1939. During the war, there were no major military land operations on the Western Front. Although the great powers of Europe declared war on one another, neither launched an attack and there was very little fighting. This all happened due to the Blitzkrieg attack against Poland as neither side wanted to see another World War happen. -
Poland Surrenders
Warsaw surrendered on the twenty-seventh of September, 1939. They surrendered to Germany - the Nazi's - after the Blitzkrieg. The Blitzkrieg was a large invasion that Germany did against Poland, it included tanks and bombs. Poland was destroyed and had to surrender as they had practically already lost, meaning there was no way they could fight back. -
Pearl Harbour Attack
On the 7th of December, 1941, Japanese fighter planes attacked America's Pearl Harbour, killing 2,355 American Servicemen and 68 civilians. A day later, Roosevelt declared war against Japan causing Japan, Germany and Italy to declare war against America. After the conflict had been going on for two years, America finally joined the war. With America joining the war, it may have made the war bigger, but it slowly brought the war to a close. -
