  • The Battle Of Midway

    The battle began on June 4th, when the Japanese launched a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base at Midway Island. However, the U.S. Navy had intercepted Japanese communications and was able to anticipate the attack. As a result, U.S. planes were able to launch a surprise attack on the Japanese fleet, damaging several Japanese aircraft carriers and other ships. They battled for the next two days, and the United States came out victorious.

Additionally, Germany was facing significant internal unrest, with the German people and military leadership growing increasingly disillusioned with the war effort.

  • Dropping Of The Nuclear Bombs

    The bombs, codenamed "Little Boy" and "Fat Man", respectively, were the first and only nuclear weapons ever used in warfare. The bombings resulted in immense destruction and loss of life, with estimates ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 people killed, mostly civilians.
  • Japan Surrender

    The bombings, coupled with the Soviet Union's declaration of war against Japan, caused Japan's leaders to realize that their situation was hopeless and that continued resistance would only result in further destruction and loss of life. As a result, Japan surrendered on August 15th, 1945, marking the end of the war in the Pacific and the official end of World War II.
