Japan invaded Manchuria in china, japan wanted the territory for its expanding empire. Manchuria became it's own semi-independant country instead of staying a part of China. The japanese left the leage of nations because they approved of it. -

The Holocaust
The holocuast was an attempted genocide, commited by hitler and the german army and soldiers (nazi). Durning Hitlers rule he thought that jews were unworthy and ruined the German image. He believed Germans were the arian race and that they were better than any other. He put Jews in to comcentration camps and made them work the land and do many other things. The Jews were malnourished and were killed in various different ways. They believed they were going to take showers but actually gased. -

Munich Conference
Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, Edouard Daladier, and Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich pact. It gave Germany the Sudendentan land. It sacrificed the autonomy Czechoslovakia, just for very short-term peace. Czechoslovakia was forced to surrender.The agreement came from a long list of negotiations. Hitler broke the peace 5 months later. -
Non- Aggression Pact
It was a pact between German and the Soviet Union, that stated not to take military action of each other for 10 years. Even with the pact Germany still invaded Russia and disregarded the pact in all. -

On September 1st Germany used the Blitzkrieg tactic. Another name for it, is lightening warfare. They used there luftwaffe to drop bombs on certain areas really unexpectedly and destroys fast. This tactic was used first by germany's attack on poland and was used many more times because it was found to be very effective. -

An air battle and bombing between the german Luftwaffe, and the british Royal Air Force. The luftwaffe attacked the RAF air bases and fought a battle of attrition. It ended in the luftwaffe's inability to defeat the Royal Air Force. -

The act was between America and Britain. America agreed to provide Britain with military supplies such as tanks, guns, etc. -
Operation Barbarossa
Giant invation of the Soviet Union by the german armies, ordered by adolf hitler. It coverd from North Cape to the Black Sea. germany underestimated Russia and was greatly defeated. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan tricked the U.S. into thinking that we were at peace with them. Little did the U.S. know that Japan was planning a surprise attack on pearl harbor in Hawaii. Almost the whole american fleet was detroyed. Many ships were destroyed and also the seaman on those ships. Planes were also destroyed and the next day america declared war on Japan, and were officially into WW2 -

Bataan Death March
American and Filipino troops were forced to march to prison camps. It was extreamly hot and had to travel 65 miles. On the way thousand died and thats what gave it, it's name. They were divided into about 100 groups to march. The marchers were starved and many were beaten. -

fought in the small U.S. mid- pacific base, the american troops had there carriers ready because of americas advanced military communication, and ruined yamamoto's plans to attack the U.S. -
Battle of Stalingrad
A battle in russia, against the german army. It was fought in the winter, which was a really bad idea on germany's part, and they were defeated and fully reatreated. A complete German army was lost in this battle. -
D-Day
Thousands of paratroopers, and groundtroops behind enemy lines on June 6th. The germans were confused. Hitler beleived it was a distraction to stop them from attacking the north of the Seine River, so they refused to stop fighting. By the end of august Paris was freed and the german army had been removed. -
Battle of the Bulge
The deadliest battle of the war in the west. Three german armies were on their way to split the american armies, Germany surprised the US armies with a blitzkrieg. The germans tried to push through the line we were able to hold it, but we were pushed inward making a bulge and able to push the german troops back. That is what the battle was named after -

American troops air raided the island so the could have a place to land if they had a damaged B-29 bombers could land without going all the way back to the Marianas. It was an american victory. We defeated the japanese army that were hiding in dugouts and caves and tunnels. -

Between America and the Japanese, america had 300 war ships and 1,139 other ships to attack from the water. The japanese attacked with kamikaze planes. they attacked the american ships with those flyers. The japanese had many more deaths than that of the american losses -

The day that german troops surrendered down their weapons in europe. American and European troops defeated the german army. -
The Bombing of Hiroshima/ Nagasaki
The U.S Bombed Japanese islands. We used atomic weapons on them. The planes had to be modified to carry the heavy atomic weapons.The survivors had their skin turned black because of burns, There were some with no hair, and sometimes you couldnt tell at first glance if you were looking at the front of back of them. -
V-J Day
Allied leaders told Japan to surrender, if they listened then they would have peace, but if they did not then the would need to prepare to face complete and utter destruction. -
Warsaw Pact
Pact between the Soviet Union, Albania, Poland, Romania, Hungry, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria, to help anyone involved in the pact when attacked by an aposing force. It lasted until 1991
