Adolf Hitler is Appointed Chancellor of Germany
On January 30th, 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany and organized a massive parade in his honor. -
The Burning of Books in Berlin and Throughout Germany
On May 10th, 1933, Nazi Germany issued a policy to burn all books that portrayed "Un-German Spirit." -
Munich Pact
On September 30th, 1938, the prime ministers of Britain and Franc met with Adolf Hitler. They met to sign the Munich Pact, a formal agreement stating that in order to avoid a war outbreak, but offered Czechoslovakia away to Germany. -
The Creation of the Atomic Bomb
Throughout WWII, many countries dropped small bombs by dropping them off of small fighter planes. However, many countries began experimenting with Atomic Bombs, bombs with stronger atomic power that could be used to destroy entire cities. -

On March 15th, 1939, Hitler's Nazi party invaded and claimed Czechoslovakia. even though the Czech government tried to appease Hitler and prevent the Nazi invasions, Hitler did not agree to these terms and continued to seize Czechoslovakia. -

The Battle of Britain
Starting on July 10th 1940, Germany's air force began bombing Britain. However, Germany soon found out that Britain's air force was too a challenge to defeat. This battle lasted lasted several months. Many citizens, along with the air-fighters, died in this battle. Due to the strong powers of their air-force, the British won this battle. -
Pearl Harbor
On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese attacked America’s Naval Base, Pearl Harbor, Hawii, by surprise. This attack resulted in 2,404 died, 1,178 were wounded, and 18 ships were sunk. This is known as a turning point in the war, and a reason America joined. -
Battle of Midway
Due to aggression after the naval attack on Pearl Harbor, America attacks Japan in a naval battle. Due to American code breaking, were able to ambush the remaining Japanese Aircraft Carriers. This battle was very successful in lessening Japanese naval power. This attack was 6 months after the Pearl Harbor attacks. -
Internment Camps Open
Due to concern about Japanese spies, America issued Executive Order 9066. The Order stated that all American citizens of Japanese ancestry be placed in Internment Camps, a temporary housing area secluded from other citizens. -
Battle of El Alamein
On October 23rd - November 11th, 1942, in El Alamein Africa, Germany and Italy deployed a large number of troops and tanks to attack the British base there. The British, due to strong defenses, were able to defend their base and claim victory. -
Allied Troops in Sicily
The Allies began the invasion of Europe by landing on the Italian island of Sicily on June 10th, 1943. 150,000 Allied troops were ashore within three days. -
D-Day
On June 6th, 1944, the allies stormed the beaches of Normandy to began the Allied Liberation of Western Europe. There is an estimated number of 450,000 dead from both allied and German troops. -

On January first, 1945, Soviet troops liberated Auschwitz concentration camp, freeing millions of imprisoned citizens. This is known as a joyous day, and is national Holocaust remembrance day. -

On April sixth, 1945, America dropped the first Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. This resulted in 135,000 dead from explosions and radiation poisoning. -
