Battle of Belgium!
Belgium was invaded by Germany. Started with mini border battles and the Germans slowly advanced throughout belgium and eventually captured it. -
Phoney War Ends! (Invasion of Netherlands)
Germany began its invasion of the Netherlands. But before that, they were able to capture Denmark and Norway. Germany took netherlands by surprise by pretending to strike England and started to invade Netherlands. -
Netherlands Surrenders
Dutch generals have fled the countries. Germany was informed of the dutch surrendering their army, naval and air force. -
Battle of France!
To end the war, Germany invaded France. Within days, German Panzers has reached the English Channel. The Germans continued to use their fighting style called the 'blitzkrieg'. They also use Luftwaffe which was their air force. They used it to bombed france's citys. They also used paratroppers to surrond French soldiers. This led to the germans surronding the allies at the port of Dunkirk. -
Evacuation at Dunkirk!
German forces were making a sweep through France which caused the allies to evacuate from the beach of Dunkirk. German later bombed the beach making it even difficult for the evacuation to take place. -
Belgium Surrenders
Belgium Surrenders to Germany. -
Evacuation complete!
The allies were evacuated from Dunkirk. There were a total of 338,226 allies soldiers that were evacuated on that day. -
France Surrenders!
France surrendered on June 22. The German army swept through France using their techniques. Eventually the frenc soldiers were overwhealmed by the power of the German forces. This resulted in 2,260,000 casualties for the allies and 163,650 casualties for the Axis. -
Bombing Britain!
Hitler plans to invade Britain by bombing their air force and taking control of the English Channel. -
Shifting Strategy!
Hitler started bomb civilian targets. These civilians bombing raid become known as 'the Blitz." -
Giving up on Britain!
The germans had more fighter aircraft than the Britain but the british air force became more and more succesful in shooting down german aircraft. This led to Hitler's decision on giving up on invading Britain. -
Operation Barbarossa!
Hitler became suspicious when the Soviet captured the Balkans and he wants to invade Russia so he could fulfil his long term plans of a German Empire. But they were unprepared for the severe winter eliminating their advantage. -
Japanese bombing!
Japan made a surprise bombing on Pearl Harbour and then Philippines. -
United States declares War!
United Staes decalres war on Japan and the Axis. -
Hong Kong Captured!
It was a sad Christmas Day for the allies in Hong Kong. Japan has captured Hong Kong. It was a tragedy because Canadians troop that were sent there were barely trained for combat. -
Dieppe!
Canadians were involved in another tragedy. They were suppose to capture the port of Dieppe but they failed to do so due to the lack of training and planning. -
Russia strikes back!
Hitler's forces failed to capture the Soviet Union so they surrendered to the Soviet. The Soviet Union strike back regaining all of their lost territory and are soon entering Germany. -
Invasion of Italy!
The allies invade Italy and Sicily (soft underbelly of europe). The terrain was rugged so it took them a long time to capture Italy. -
Africa Freed!
The Allies were able to kick the german forces out of Africa. -
Italy Defeated!
Italy was finally defeated by the Allies! Italy surrenedered giving the allies momentum towards D-DAY!! -
D-Day (OPERATION OVERLORD)
A Massive Invasion on German Territory Through five beaches and Canadians were deployed in Juno Beach. They had massive naval and air support to give them more advantage over the Germans. -
Germany Invaded!
The Allies are finally in Germany to fight the Germans. -
Holland's Liberation
The Canadians job was to free Holland from the Germans. This was a difficult job but the Canadians did it and they surronded the German forces and they surrenderd! The canadians then drop supplies to the starving people of Holland! -
Germany Surrenders!!! War in Europe is over!
Germany are finally defeated and they surrendered to the allies. Hitler can not bear the consequeces and the humiliation of surrendering so he commited suicide in a bunker in Berlin along with his wife. The war in Europe is over!
