    German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact
    Before WW2 broke out in Europe, Nazi-Germany and the Soviet Union signed a German-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact — both countries agreed to take no military action against each other for the next 10 years, it surprised the world. The pact contained a secret agreement on how they would later divide up Eastern Europe. The pact fell apart when Nazi forced invaded the Soviet Union on June 1941.

    Adolf Hitler invaded Poland ; 2 days later, making Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany. The beginning of the war has began. During the next 6 years, many of people will lose their lives, land and property. WW2 killing more than any other war.

    Germany and Britain fought in the air over the United Kingdom. The battle ended when Germany failed to gain superiority over the Royal Air Force. Britain's victory saved their country from a ground invasion and occupation by the German forces.

    The British began evacuating the allies of Dunkirk. There were not enough ships to carry the amount of men stranded. The British called on all British people that own any form of water transportation to help. The Royal Air Force resisted Luftwaffe during evacuation but the Germans still bombarded the area, destroying many vessels ; the evacuation still continued for 9 days.

    Hitler launched his armies eastwards in a massive invasion of the Soviet Union with over 3 million German soldiers. Germany underestimated Russia because they the Soviet attacks threatened to envelop their forces of the Grand Army. Nazi Germany had started a two-front war that they had no chance of victory at.

    Japanese fighter planes left their base just after 8 am on that Sunday, destroying 20 American navel vessels, 8 battleships and 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died from the attack, including innocent people ; having 1,000 injured -- after President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared war on Japan
  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    6 months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the US defeated Japan in one of the most decisive battles of the war ; their victory allowed them to go into an offensive position. Japan had chosen a target that was close to Pearl Harbor and attacked, the US had a breakthrough of Japan's fleet codes which allowed them to understand the exact plans of their attack, they came out victorious.

    Potsdam Conference
    was the last of the WW2 meetings held by the “Big Three” - the heads of state. The American President Harry S. Truman, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin. They arranged agreements on the German economy, land boundaries, reparations, and punishments for war criminals. They also established a declaration demanding “unconditional surrender” from Japan.
