Germany invades Poland
On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland. The Germans started with attacks from the sky and then proceeded to invaded on the land. This was called the "blitzkrieg" and was such a brutal and effective tactic and it was greatly feared. Two days later France and Great Britain honor the contract with Poland and go to war against Germany. This was considered the starting event for the war to end all wars. It was such a violent attack it set the stage for the war to come. -
British bomb Germany
The British had dropped a bomb on German ground. The British, who have an alliance with Poland, are now fighting Germany. The British are strong and it shows that this will not be an easy war for either side. -
Pearl Harbor
At 7:55 on Sunday, December 7 hundreds of Japanese warplanes attacked the American Pacific fleet anchored at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Eight battleships(ex. U.S.S. Arizona), three light cruisers, three destroyers, four navy vessels and164 ground aircrafts were destroyed, sunk or damaged. 2,403 Americans were killed. Along with Pearl Harbor the Japanese also attacked Guam, Wake Island, the Philippines, Malaya and Hong Kong. -

Peal Harbor has become a memorial to remember the brave men that fought. This attack killed so many people and destroyed so much it happening during WWII shows this is the war to end all was. It was such a violent event it is so hard to compare it to any other attacks. -
Battle of the Atlantic
Eight unarmed vessels were sunk by Germanys U-bout and by the end of January Germany sunk 25 tank long the East Coast. The Battle of the Atlantic was a fight for control or superiority over the seas and a threat to get rid of American allies. During this Battle 20 allied ships and 5 million tons of much needed material were sunk in only 6 months. The thought of tying to control a sea is just idiotic during WWII Germany tried to do this. It shows that this war was about control and nothing more. -
The Wannsee Conference
A meeting in Germany called, The Wannsee Conference, established that the "Solution" for all Jews in Europe was to exterminate(kill) eleven million people. Thinking that killing 11 million people is a solution is beyond insane. A group of men hatted jewish people so much thy killed 11 million human lives just because of their religion. This event is another contribution to why WWII is the war to end all because of the meare amount of people who did just at this event. -
Allies land in Italy
The allied forces land in Sicily and gained control of the Mediterranean. The invasion of Italy took 8 days to finish and secure. On the 19th Rom was then bombed. Moths later on September Italy accepts to the allied surrender terms from. German troops then move in and take control. -
D-Day
D-Day was the greatest invasion in history. Just after midnight 24,000 paratrooper(flown over by more than 1,000 aircrafts) were at enemy lines in Normandy. 5,300 ships with 76,000 men are coming across the Channel. Commanders have planned five coordinated landings along 45 miles. It was the bloodiest day in American history. About 2,500 American soldiers died. In WWII the bloodiest battle was fought since the Civil War. WWII is the bloodiest war which shows its the war to end all wars. -
Biggest Battle of the War on the Western Front
About six weeks after German's attack in the Ardennes started, the allies got back the land thy had lost. It was the biggest battle on the Western Front with more than a million men taking part. About 19,000 Americans died and 60,000 were wounded, captured or missing. But the risk Hitler takes was a disaster and 100,000 of his men and all the tanks and aircrafts were gone. Hitlers attempt for control was fatal and he killed his own men and took Americans lives. -
Hiroshima
Originally supposed to drop on the Germans and atomic bomb tumbled through the bomb-bay doors. Seconds later it detonates and with one bomb 40,000 of the men, women and children of Hiroshima were obliterated. 100,000 die within the following days from radiation and burns. Over 5 years another 100,000 would pass from radiation poisoning. Between seconds, days and years thousands upon thousands of people died because of this one bomb. Such a fatal end to innocent people as result to WWII -
Nagasaki
Another atomic bomb drops, but in Nagasaki. It instantly claims 40,000 civilian lives.The Supreme Council for Direction of the War, in Tokyo are still split between people wanting to give up or those who want to fight. A second bomb also claims the lives of thousands of innocent civilians. So the amount of civilians lost in just two bombs is astonishing.
