Germany invades Poland
The war begins when the Germans invaded Poland. They used a new type of welfare called blitzkrieg (mass tanks.) Supporting the tanks were waves of aircraft that bombed emeny positions and dropped paratroopers to cut their supply lines.On September 27, the Polish capital fell to the Germans. By October 5th, the army of Poland was defeated. -
Tripartite Pact
Germany, Italy, and Japan sign a treaty that makes all three countries allies against England and France. The United States sees this as a warning sign: stop helping France and England. (The United States traded fifty oold destroyers to England for naval and air bases in the Western Hemisphere in exchange.) -

President Roosevelt gives rights to African Americans and women during the war. The result of this was women nurses and African American soldiers. -
Pearl Harbor is attacked

It was fought in the Pacific Ocean between Japan and the United States. Japan's goal was to destroy America's Pacific Fleet. It was a turning point in the war. The Japanese Navy lost four of its largest carriers. It was months after the suprise attack at Pearl Harbor. -

American drops bombs on Japan
America dropped the first atomic bomb named "Little Boy" on Hiroshima. Then on August 9th, America dropped another atomic bomb called "Fat MAn" on Nagasaki. -
