President Roosevelt signed the Lend-Lease Act on this day. This act allowed the US to lend or lease any defense materials. -

A military strike by Japan at the US naval base, located in Hawaii. This attack led to the entry of the US in World War ll. -

The US (and allied troops) was led into an invasion of Normandy, France, They fought their way through France, Belguim and into Germany. -
Hiroshima and Nagasaki
August 6 & 9, 1945. Although the war in Europe had ended, Japan kept on fighting, President Trunman decided to drop an atomic bomb on Japan, killing well over 70,000 people. A secondary atomic bomb was dropped a couple days later killing over 40,000. -
End of World War ll
On this day World War ll has ended. Japan finally surrenders, resulting in the victory for the allied powers.
