Hitler invades Poland
Adolf Hitler was looking for much more control in Europe and the rest of the world. So on September, 1st, 1939 Hitler and the Nazis invaded Poland. This made Great Britan and France declare war on Germany. I think that World War ll wouldn't have occured if this did not happen. Germany made Great Britan and the rest of the allies get involved with this sparking World War ll. -
Hitler gains control of western Europe
In about a month after Germany invaded Poland they had conquered it. In 1940 Germany conquered Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. In 1940 Germany defeated France and had gained control of almost all of western Europe. This was a big step in the war in my opinion. This gave Hitler a bigger advantage and it gave him more confidence in his army. Most likely this was one of the most important events. This made Hitler also have a larger amount of land so he had a larger advandtage -
Japan attacks Pearl Harbor
During this time the United States was trying very hard to stay out of the war, but when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, they had to join. With no clue at all, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. They took many lives and made the United States join the war. I believe that Japan shouldn't have done this because this made the United States bomb them and kill many of their citizens. If they wouldn't have done this, many more people would've lived. -
Germany invades the Soviet Union
Hitler and the Germans invaded the Soviet Union eventhough they had a secret truce with them. The Soviets were able to defend themselves against the Germans blitzkreig attack. The Germans were not able to that over the city. This weakend the Germans. I believe that if the Soviets wouldn't have been able to defend against the Germans, Germany would've been able to take over the whole world. Without this, the war would never have ended. -
The Allies invade Europe on D-day
The allied forces landed on Normandy in northwestern France on June 6th 1994. The invasion went well and in Tugust the troops entered Paris. In September they were at Germanys western border, and the Soviets were attacking from the eastern side. Soon the Nazis fell. On April 30th, Adolf Hitler killed himself and the Germans surrendered. I believe that without D-day, Germany may not have surrenedered. This was a big step for the allies and it led to the end of World War ll. -
The United States dropped the atomic bomb on Japan
Japan refused to surrender in the war so the United States dropped a bomb on one of their biggest cities, Hiroshima. A B-29 bomber dropped the worlds 1st atomic bomb in history. The explosion wiped out 90% of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. Since Japan still refused to surrender, 3 days later the United States dropped another bomb on Nagasaki killing 40,000 people. I believe that Japan was at fault for the bombing in their country because they refused to surrender.
