Invasion of Manchuria
The invasion of Manchuria, also known as the Mukden Incident, was the capturing of the city of Mukden by Japanese soldiers. This was believed to be done by just the Japanese army and that the Japanese government was not involved. This event added on to the isolation of Japan and slowly creates a path towards World War II. -
Tri-Partite Agreement
The Tri-Partite Agreement was an agreement between France, Britain, and the United States. The agreement was made to maintain the currency between the three countries especially when it came to gold. The event is important because it allowed for the three countries to maintain a stable currency while staying at the same level. -
The Rape of Nanjing
The Rape of Nanjing occurred when a Japanese general ordered havoc on the city Nanking. The city went to chaos because of Japanese soldiers murdering and raping Chinese civilians. This event was important when it came to the number of lives lost. 150,000 male war prisoners were killed along with 50,000 male civilians. 20,000 women and little girls were raped and later killed. -
Anschluss
Hitler wanted all German-speaking nations in Europe to be a part of Germany. Germans soldiers marched into Austria, annexing their land and wanting Austria to be ruled by Germany. They wanted to unite Austria with Nazi/Germany. -
Munich Pact
The Munich Pact was an agreement between Hitler and the British and French prime ministers. It was an agreement that made sure that there would be no outbreak of war for the exchange of Czechoslovakia. This event was important because Hitler did what he needed to get what he wanted and in this case he wanted Sudtenland in Czechoslovakia. -
Kristallnacht
Kristallnacht was the vandalization of Jewish shops, homes, and schools. Also known as the "Night of Broken Glass" around 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and sent to concentration camp. This event started when a Jewish boy shot a German soldier when he lost his father. It showed how much anger the Germans had when it came to the Jews. -
Hiroshima/Nagasaki
The U.S. fired two nuclear weapons on cities in Japan which were Hiroshima and Nagasaki. U.S had permission/ consent by the United Kingdom by the Quebec Agreement. This killed 120,000 people in total from both weapons. -
Non-Aggression Pact
The Non-Aggression Pact was a deal between the Germans and the Soviet Union. It said that both countries wouldn't attack each other for the next ten years. This event was important because Hitler broke the promise and attacked the Soviet Union and sent three million troops to attack. This event was another example of Hitler disobeying contributions with other countries. -
Invasion of Poland
Early morning, 1.5 million German soldiers invaded Poland all along its border. At the same time the Germans bomb, Luftwaffe, bombed Polish airfields. This event was important because although Hitler claimed the attack to be defensive, the Allies did not believe him and thus started World War II. -
Evacuation of Dunkirk
This evacuation was caused by the Allies wanted to evacuate their troops because they wanted the war to end. Many troops were put through war with low resources, this involved the French, British, and Arras. Allies evacuated the troops by putting them on the beach so ships/little ships would rescue the troops from the crucial war. -
Lend Lease Act
A policy that was officially called "An act to Promote the Defense of the United States". This program was made to defeat Germany, Japan, and Italy by distributing resources. They did this because they wanted security for the U.S. -
Operation Barbarossa
This was a German invasion by the Soviet Union. This didn't work out so well for German troops to defeat the Soviet Union. This took a huge turning point during the war by the Soviet Union winning but lost many troops during this. -
Pearl Harbor
This was surprise military attack by Japanese navy against the U.S. Japanese attacked Hawaii, they destroyed at least 20 American naval vessels and eight battleships. There was 2,400 Americans that died during this attack. U.S wanted to declare war on Japan after this horrible event. -
Battle of Midway
The battle of Midway was a naval battle fought mostly with aircraft. The United States was able to destroy most of Japans best-trained pilots and their first-line carrier strength. The importance of this fight was that it ended any threats of Japanese invasions in the Pacific. -
D-Day Invasion
D-Day was an invasion plan made by the Allies for the Germans. It was a huge military assault and required a lot of planning. This event was important because it ended up closing Germany in. Once the battle of Normandy was won, everything came into play. As Allie troops came in from the west, Soviet troops where meeting the from the east. -
Liberation of Paris
A military battle that was fought by Paris and Belgium. This started by French forces gaining up on the Germans because of the U.S third army. They wanted freedom from the governments. -
Battle of the Bulge
This was started by a group of Germans. German armies surprises the Allies by attacking the Ardennes Mountains of Belgium. This was a horrible war by lack of resources, horrible weather, and the soldiers being in battle for a long time. -
Hitlers Suicide
Hitler hid underground managing the war and the small number of German defenses left. He would only let important individuals like Himmler or his wife inside the bunker. This is important because this is a dead end for Germany. With Hitler out of the way the war is practically over. -
Surrender of Germany
Germany has surrendered from the Allies because Germany was surrounded by Easter and Western Allies. Germany knew that this wasn't going to end well. Shortly after Germany had to surrender because of Hitlers suicide.
