This battle took place in many oceans and seas. It was the U.S, commanded by Ernest J. King, and allied with 11 other countries against Italy and Germany led by Erich Raeder. There were 36,200 sailors killed and 36,00 merchant seamen killed but we won. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
The Japanese led the attack on U.S. naval base located at Pearl Harbor. With 2,402 American killed in the surprise attack, we declared war on Japan the very next day. -
Battle of Wake Island
Taken place at Wake Island, Winfield S. Cunningham led the U.S. against Japan. There were only 120 Americans killed, and more Japanese killed but sadly Japan won this battle. -
Battle of Bataan
Douglas MacArthur led the Americans, along with the Philipines, to attack on Japan. It was located on the Bataan Peninsula in the Philipines. There were 115,000 killed from our side, but many more from the Japanese. -
Battle of El Guettar
The battle was in El Guettar Tunisia. The U.S. was led by George Patton and the Germans/Italians were led by Jurgen von Amim and Giovanni Messe. While the U.S. had 5,000 casualties, they ended up winning. -

Located in Sicily, Italy, Dwight Eisenhower led the U.S. along with the Free French, Australia, South Africa, Canada, and the U.K. against Italy and Germany, led by Albert Kesselring. There were 24,850 casualties from the U.S. and allies -

This battle was in Normandy, France (D-Day). Dwight Eisenhower was the supreme allied commander. There were 12 allied forces against Gerd von Rundstedt and his German army. There were 120,000 thousand casualties but we won. -

Led by Manton Eddy this battle resulted in a U.S. victory and 2,851 casualties -
Battle of Hurtgen Forest
This battle was against the Germans. They were 33,000 U.S. casualities. Led by Courtney Hodges and Walter Model, it resulted in a German defensive victory. -
Battle of Aachen
Led by Leland Hobbs this battle resulted in an American victory with 5,000 casualites. -
Battle of the Bulge
It was located in The Ardennes, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Nazi Germany. It was five allies against Germany. U.S. was led by Dwight Eisenhower and Germany was led by Hitler. There were 89,500 casualties but we defeated Germany. -
Battle of Luzon
Taking place in Luzon, Philippines, Douglas MacArthur led the U.S, Philippine Commonwealth, Australia, and Mexico to victory over Tomoyuki Yamashita and the Japanese. There were only 8,310 Americans killed but 205,535 Japanese casualties. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
This battle was located in Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands. It was the U.S, commanded by Holland Smith and the Japanese, commanded by Tadamichi Kribayashi. There were 6,821 killed and 19,000 wounded but we came out on top. -
VE Day
Victory in Europe Day marks the date when World War II allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany and the end of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich, therefore ending the war in Europe -
VJ Day
Victory over Japan Day or Victory of the Pacific Day was which Japan surrendered, ending World War II.
