Invasion of Manchuria
The Invasion happened after Russia declares war on Japan and they invaded Manchuria. The Japanese underestimated the Soviets and were surprised by the invasion of Manchuria. However this gave Japan a reason to invade China since they've been wanting to do that for a long time. -
Rape of Nanjing
During WWII, Japan declared war on China and started to conquering it. After a while of fighting the capital of China, Nanking gets taken over Japanese forces. The city was demanded to destroyed, this lead to the death of millions of civilians and many woman and girls were rapped. The city was burned down and destroyed. This important because the US covered this up to become trading partners and to maintain peace. At the end of WWII they were found guilty of the war crimes. -
Anschluss
Anschluss was the Union of Austria and Germany. This would also annex Austria to Germany. Austria allowed this to make sure that they would not get invaded by Germany. This is important because Germany already annexed part of Czechoslovakia. The European nations would give Hitler what he wanted to maintain peace. This was called Appeasment. -
Munich Pact
The Munish Pact is an agreement that was signed by Germany, Great Britain, France, and Italy. This agreement gave Germany the right to annex Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia. Even thought Sudetenland was part of Czechoslovakia, they had no saying when the agreement was signed. This is important to the development of WWII because Hitler was violating what the Treaty of Versailles was saying/requiring them to do. Even though Hitler said that's all he's goign to do he keeps taking more land. -

Kristallnacht
Kristallnacht, also known as The Night of the Broken Glass was the start of the Holocaust. On Kristallnacht, Nazi's vandalized Jewish homes and business. 100 Jews were killed in the event and 30000 Jewish men were killed. Before the Night of the Broken Glass, all policies for the Jews were non-violent but this made it violent. This was important to the development of WWII because the Holocaust was the end result of the event. The Holocaust ended up killing millions of people. -
Non Aggression Pact
The Non-Aggression Pact was a Treaty signed by Hitler and Stalin in 1939. This Treaty was an agreement that they would not attack each other. This action was done by Hitler to not cause a two-front war. This took care of USSR when WWII was going on so Germany could just focus on Europe. This was important because after Germany conquered all of Europe, Hitler went after the USSR which broke the treaty they had. This lead to the USSR joining the Allied powers -

Invasion Poland
The Invasion of Poland was when WWII started. German wanted to invade Poland since Germany wanted to add Poland to its self. Britain and France signed a Treaty with Poland that would aid Poland when Germany Invades them. However Britain and France told Poland to let the attack happen to maintain peace but that didn't work. After that Britain would Declare war on Germany which marks the beging of WWII. -

Evacuation of Dunkirk
The Evacuation of Dunkirk was the Allies helping soldiers to evacuate the city of Dunkirk. The allies had to also defend Dunkirk from the Germans since they cut the British off from aiding the French allies. This was important because if the Germans succeeeded they could have captured the soilders which would take Britian's army giving them the upper hand. -
Tri Partite Agreement
The Tri-Partite Agreement was signed by Germany, Italy, and Japan. This agreement would allow them to help each other if they were ever attacked. This creates the Axis Powers. When WWII starts this is what makes them all allies. -
Lend Lease Act
The Lend Lease act was an act that would send aid to nations during WWII. During WWII the US would send military and supplies to their allies. Germany was upset about this since the US was nutraul but they were helping their enemies. -

Operation Barbarossa
Operation Barbarossa was a code name for the Axis powers to invade the Soviet Union. However, this plan backfired and Germany ended up fighting a two-front war with the Allies which wasn't the plan for them. In the war this was a turning point since Germany failed to invade the Soviet Union, after that Germany stuggled to keep the upper hand. -
Pearl Habor
Pearl Habor was a military base located near Hawaii. Japanese fighter jets flew to Pearl Harbor and bombed it leaving more than 2,400 American soldiers dead. Before the event, the US stayed neutral during WWII, however, Japan has been planning to attack the US for a long time. They wanted to attack the west coast so they could not fight back. Japan and the US were trading partners since Japan has China's reasources which made the attack a surprise. After the attack, the US declares war on japan. -

The Battle of Midway was a battle fought between the US and Japan marking the turning point in the war. The US winning the battle helped them be offensive.This was important because the US did a significant amount of damage to the Japanese naval force which benifited them which would help them. -
D Day
D Day was the battle of Normandy which resulted in the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi forces. Before D Day happened, the Allies designed a plan to distract the Nazi's in order to go on with the plan. D Day was important to WWII because it helped contribute to the Allies winning WWII. The Nazi's took over most of Europe and by setting the Western part of Europe free which lead to the downfall of Germany/Nazi's. -

The Liberation of Paris was a battle to free Paris that have been controlled by the Nazis for two years. The Allies invaded Paris but before that the people who were resisting attacked German forces to help the Allies. The Liberation of PAris was huge turning pint for the War since they have won the battle to get Paris back from Germany. -
Battle of the Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge was the Nazi's attempt to split the Allied forces. The strategy used was called Blitzkrieg which means lightning war. American forces were caught off guard and fought to stop the Germans. This was important because it was the last German effort against the Allies since it did not break them like they wanted to. -
Hitler's Suicide
Hitler was in a Bunker in Berlin during WWII when he took a cyanide capsule and shot himself in the head. Hitler hid in the bunker when the Soviets were in Berlin. Hitler realized that they would lose the war. This was important because Hitler did many things to start WWII which was mostly disobeying the Treaty of Versailles. After Hilter commited suicide, Germany surrended to the Allies. -
Surrender Germany
Germany surrenders originally all its forces fighting the Western Allies but later announces that they have all officially surrendered. Fighting would last for another day but the war was over. This was important because Germany caused WWII and they ended it, However, Japan has not surrendered to the Allies but they will surrender later that year. Before Germany surrendered Hitler committes suicide since he knew that they we're going to loose. -

Hiroshima/Nagasaki
Hiroshima/Nagasaki were 2 cities in Japan. What happened to that city is that the first atomic bomb was dropped there, first on Hiroshima and then on Nagasaki three days later. 80000 people died as a result of the event. The reason to why this was important is because Germany had already surrendered to the Allies but Japan continued.The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were important because the Allies need Japan to surrender in order to win the war.
