    Germany Invades Poland
    Germany attacked Poland both on land and from the air. It happened because Hitler was determined to regain lost territory and control Poland. This was the first event to start WWII whcih left many economies to struggle.
  • German Blitzkrieg

    German Blitzkrieg
    A tactic used in the invasion of Poland, consideed a way to quickly win battles. German's believed it was the fastest way to take over a country. This impacted other countries because it made Germany a bigger threat.
  • Fall of Paris

    Fall of Paris
    Paris fell to the Germans. This happened because the German's gave the citizens a curfew of 8 pmwhile the occupied the city. As a result of this Germany gained more land and power.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. This happened because the United States cut off Japan's oil supply and they weren't happy about it. This lead to the US entering WWII to fight against Japan.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    We stopped the German adavance into the Soviet Union. German's saw the conquest of Stalingrad as an essential to their campaign in Russia. This was also a set back to Germany.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    156,000 American, British, and Canadian soldiers landed on 5 beaches along a 50 mile stretch. Allies conducted a large scale deception campaign to mislead the German's and also used fake equipment. 40,000 allied troops lost their lives while German's were removed from North Western France.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    American troops invaded Iwo Jima. They needed a base near the Japanese coast. Japan's two air fields were shut down because the US won.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    The allied forces invaded the island. It was fought to attempt to control air bases that were vital to the projected invasion of Japan. Allies took contol of Okinawa and gained more land and power.
  • VE Day

    German troops in Europe laid dwn their arms. We (the United States) had two theaters of war during WWII. Germany lost power to the US.
  • Dropping of the atomic bombs.

    Dropping of the atomic bombs.
    The United States developed a weapon called atomic bombs, we dropped one on Heroshima and one on Nagasaki. We did this because we got news that Germany was working on nuclear weapons and we wanted to show that we weren't the people to mess with. This resulted in over 120,000 deaths in Japan.
  • VJ Day

    VJ Day
    This was the day that Japan surrenered and this closed one of our theaters of war. We bombed Japan starting tension but convinced them to surreneder after Pearl Habor. This resulted in ending the battle with Japan and a cool museum at Pearl Harbor.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    Hitler attempted to split the Allies' armies in NW Europe with a surprise Blitzkrieg through the Ardennes to Antwerp. They did this because Hitler wanted to gain more land. The impact was that Germany had a shortage of fuel.
