  • Germany's invasion of Poland

    Germany's invasion of Poland
    On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland because he had to give it up and didn't want to and by him violating the Munich agreement by dismembering The Czechslavak state Britain and France responded by promising integrity of the Polish state and as a counter attack Hitler signed a nonaggression pact with the Soviet Union allowing him to take half of Poland without the Soviet Union fighting back. Over half a million Jews died and some poles fought with the British army and some with the soviet.
  • Germany blitzkrieg

    Germany blitzkrieg
    when Germany invaded Poland, Germany used a battle tactics called Blitzkrieg, "lightening war". It was supposed to smash through enemy lines weak point in their defenses and then cause damage when they were behind the static lines. It did not come out like it was supposed to and Blitzkrieg ended up being a failure.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    it was a turning point in World War II, due to Germany not being able to fight a two front war. Germany tried to attack Russia but due to weather changes while reaching Russia hitter was not prepared for the cold weather, and when him and his troops were forced to advance. Russia did a counterattack on hitters army when they were vulnerable and at their weakest point. As a result the Germans restored a semblance of order to the two fronts and they had to result back to a two-front war.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese did a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor which was the naval base for the U.S.. The United States did not like Japan's attitude toward China and the Japanese thought that a good way to solve their problems was to go and take over U.S. Territory and take over import markers. this eventually led to the U.S. being in WWII
  • D-Day (Normandy Invasion)

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    Allied invasion on Germany, to liberate northern France from Nazi German control. One of the largest amphibious military assaults in history. It was a very successful invasion that liberated France and the Allies defeated the Germans.
  • Liberation of Concentration Camps

    Liberation of Concentration Camps
    The day that the Soviets liberated Aushwitz. Nazi Germany were forcing Jews into concentration camps called the "death marches". The Soviets came just in time to see the thousands of Jews about to be killed. They continued to liberate the Stutthof, Sachsenausen, Ravensbruek, Buchenwald, and more.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    The day that Great Britain and the U.S. celebrate the Victory in Europe Day. It was the day when German troops finally surrendered. It led to more than 13,000 British POWs being able to go back home
  • Dropping the Atomic Bombs

    Dropping the Atomic Bombs
    America drops an atomic bomb on Horoshima and Japan. it was Americans retaliation from the destruction of Peral Harbor. America warned Japan that if they attempt to invade America there would be a horrific American comeback. It killed 80,000 people and more from the radiation. Three days later another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki and killed 40,000 more people

    The Potsdam Declaration was the Proclamation Defining Terms for Japanese Surrender. It basically just read off their agreement of surrender for Japan after they were bombed twice
  • VJ Day

    VJ Day
    Japan surrendered to the Allies which centered the end to WWII. It is the day known as "Victory over Japan Day". To break Japanese resistance the Allies dropped about 100,000 tons of explosives
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    A major German offense campaign made to push the Allied front lines west from France to Belgium. The Germans made a "bulge" by the Ardennes forest. There was a big loss of American and civilians and a big surrender for Americans
