  • The "Rape" of Nanking

    The Japanese Imperial Army invaded Nanjing, China and massacred 300 000 civilians.

  • "Peace in our Time"

    British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain returned from Germany and promised "Peace in our Time", after making a pact with Germany. This pact was an agreement signed by Adolf Hitler to never go to war with Britain.

  • Hitler Invades Czechoslovakia

    In the Treaty of Munich, Hitler gave assurances that he would not attack but despite that, he marched into Czechoslovakia and occupied it.

  • Invasion of Poland

    Germany invaded Poland at 4:45AM. Hitler ordered hostilities against Poland.
    Poland's airfields were bombed and their naval forces were attacked by the German warships. The German air force bombed the cities in order to terrorize Poland.
    During the invasion, Poland attempted to hold out as long as they could by setting up offence in the west, however the Soviet forces invaded in the east and this caused all hope to be lose, so the military leaders and government fled the country.

  • Australia Declares War on Germany

    Prime Minister Robert Gordon Menzies announced that Australia was at war with Germany.

  • UK declares war on Germany

    UK declares war on Germany
    In response to Hitler’s invasion of Poland, Britain and France, the UK officially declared war on Germany, resulting in the start of World War 2.

  • France Surrenders to Germany

    After a France give up on retreating from Hitler’s army, the surrender and sign an armistice with Germany.

  • The battle of Tobruk

    Tobruk was an Italian developed town on the Libyan coast that was attacked and surrounded by the British and Commonwealth forces eventually gaining the name of “the siege of Tobruk”.

  • Australia fights in Greece

    The 6th division of Australian and New Zealand forces travelled to Greece to help defend them against the Germans, however, they were forced out of the country and defeated, with incredible losses.

  • USA enters World War 2

    The USA joined World War 2 with the British against the allied forces after a devastating surprise attack from the Japanese on Pearl Harbour.

  • Attack on Pearl Harbour

    Japan's Pearl Harbour Invasion was a surprise and it was a success.The attack was planned by Isoroku Yamamoto and it occurred at 7:55AM on Sunday in the South Pacific, Hawaii, where America's fleet and Naval Base was located.
