    Germany invades the Soviet Union. 4.5 million German troops invaded Russia, making it the largest invasion in history. The Axis powers won. Casualties: over 1 million Axis, over 4 million Soviets.

    Surprise attack by Japan against the U.S.A. at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Was a “warning” attack to tell U.S.A. to not mess with Japan’s forces. Results were a tactical victory for Japan, U.S.A. declared war on Japan, and Germany and Italy declare war on the U.S.A. Casualties: 64 Japanese, 2,402 Americans.

    Allied Powers attacked Japan. Allied victory, and began the offensive attacks of Allied forces. Casualties: 7,100 Allied, 31,000 Japanese.

    Axis Powers fought Soviet Union for control of Stalingrad. This marked a turning point in WWII where Allied forces began winning. Result was the defeat of Germany’s 6th Army. Casualties: 850,000 Axis, 1,150,000 Allied.

    Allied forces fought against Japan and the Axis powers in the largest Pacific War assault of WWII. Allied forces won, using the captured Okinawa island as a base for air operations. Casualties: 12,513 Allied, 95,000 Axis.

    The final battle for Hitler’s Germany. Nazi’s held their last stand against Russia in Berlin. Results were an Allied Power’s victory, which came with the suicide of Hitler and surrender of all German Forces. The end of WWII! Casualties: 81,116 Allied, 100,000 Axis.
