Germany Invades the Soviet Union
Germany went against their nonaggression act with the Soviet Union and attack them because he wanted France and the low countries. The Germans thought the Soviets were going to fall fast, but they didn't. They kept fighting until the end. The Germans were not expecting that cold of a winter and were unprepared for it, so the Soviets took advantage and made a counter attack on Germany.

Atomic Bomb in Japan
The first atomic bomb to ever hit Japan. The U.S. used the nuclear bomb first because Einstein had told them that the Nazis were going to use a nuclear bomb on the U.S.,but before they were going to attack Germany with the bomb the war had ended. The U.S. was still in a war with Japan though, and they decided to use the bomb because any type of strategy the Americans used to invade Japan would end in a lot of casualties.
