Hitler annexes Austria and liberates German people in Sudetenland, a region in Czechoslovakia. Due to this event, Neville Chamberlain flies to Germany to attempt a settlement. -
Treaty of Munich
France and Italy meet in Munich and agree that Hitler should have Sudetenland in Czech. Hitler than assures the other countries that this was the last of his expansion and signs a paper proclaiming "peace in our time" -

Despite the proclamation Hitler gives in the Treaty of Munich, he invades Czechoslovakia. -

Britain begins arming their secret early warning system along coast. Assuring Poland, who was being threatened by Fuhrer. -

Blitzkreig
Hitler launches a lightning war (Blitzkreig) on Holland and Belgium. This leaves Rotterdam almost completely extinct. -
Dunkirk
Troops retreat to coast of Dunkirk. All owners of sea-worthy vessels were sent out to the coast to retrieve the troops. On this day almost 338,000 men were rescued. -
Tripartite Pact
Mutual alliance between Germany, Italy and Japan is signed. -
Battle of Britain
In July of 1940, Hitler sends Luftwaffe bombers to attack the British ports. These bombings continued until August, but by this time the bombs were concentrated of RAF fields.
Then in September, the Blitz started bombing London very heavily in hopes of destroying the morale of the British.
The raids stopped on October 31st after the RAF defended the skies. -

Hitler sent 3 million troops and about 3,500 tanks into Russia. They are very surprised, because they had signed a Treaty with Germany two years before. Immediately, Stalin signed a Mutual Assistance with Britain and began a battle, claiming 20 million lives. USA supplied arms to USSR, since they had a "lend-lease" with Britain. -

The Japanese surprise attack the US naval base Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, leading the United States into the entry of the war. -
