Hitler Comes To Power
In the hope of creating a stable government, the German President Hindenburg agreed to the plan. So Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. Which made Hitler the head of the government which lead the the war. -
The war begins
German troops invade Poland. About 1.5 million German troops invade Poland. Germany bombed Polish airfields, and German warships and U-boats attacked Polish naval forces in the Baltic Sea. Adolf Hitler claimed the invasion was a defensive action, but Britain and France were not convinced. -
Britian and France declare war
After the Germans Invation of Poland Birtian and France weren't happy with what had happened and they declare war on Germany. -
Congress lifts Neutrality Act
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt appears before Congress and asks for the Neutrality Acts to be amended. Roosevelt hoped to lift the ban on sending help to Britian and France who were facing the Nazi aggression during World War II. -
Hitler Takes Neutral Countries
Adolf Hitler goes after the small neutral counties Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Holland, and Luxembourg. -
Pearl Harbor
Just before 8 a.m. hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The bombings lasted just two hours, but it was devastating. The Japanese destroyed nearly 20 American naval ships, including eight battleships, and more than 300 airplanes. More than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors died, and another 1,000 were wounded.
