    German Invasion of Poland
    It happened very early in the morning. Nazis and propagandits were rushing in. The Germans were bombing the Polish airfeilds, and German U boats and war ships attacked the Polish navy in the Baltic Sea. Hitler said this was for defence but did not convince Britain and France, so they declared war on Germany, starting World War II.

    The Battle of Britain was between the German Lutwaffe and the British Royal Air Force. It lasted between July and October of 1940. This was faught entirely in the air. During the battle that lasted 12 weeks, 1,733 German aircrafts were destroyed, and with 915 Britain fighters. This was considered a British victory.

    Operation Barbarossa is known as the largest attack of World War II. This attack was based on the Blitzkreig. There were three army groups attacking Russia that day. Russia had four units for defense, but many soldiers were wiped out. When the brutal Russian weather came, the German advances came to a hault. Even though Hitler had huge advances, he did not conquer Russia before winter, therefore, he failed his mission.

    The Battle of Moscow, Russia was a fight for the capital of Russia, Moscow. Hitler believed that once they captured Moscow, all of Russia would collapse. The Germans got a command that would put the Russians in chaos and block off communication between their defense system. There was a second assult on Russia, narrowing Germany's targt to a smaller area. In december, the Russians came back, killing many Germans and destroying some of their weapons.     People had resorted to hand to hand combat in the streets. The Germans had taken some of the city, but they would take over in the day, and the Russians would get it back at night. Winter set in and really got to Germany's eastern front, basically making them fall apart, and surrender. The Germans had such a bad loss, they became much weaker.

    Battle of Stalingrad, Russia
    Many historians say that the Battle of Stalingrad was a turning point in WWII. The German army had dwindled down and retreated from Russia. Germany's main task was to take over the oil fields in Caucasusand to take over Stalingrad. Ther Germans came in the city in early September and the Russians knew they couldn't give in since it was the city honoring their leader, Joseph Stalin. This battle turned out to be one of the worst of WWII.

    Battle of Kursk, Russia
    This battle was the biggest tank battle of WWII. German forces tried to surround the Russians and defeat them, like the Russians had done in the Batttle of Stalingrad. The Russians were at an advantage, knowing the German's plans. Because of this, the Russians had much time to prepare. Even though the Germans had more powerful tanks, the Russians outnumbered them, resulting in a loss for the Germans. In the end, the Germans were forced to retreat from Russia.

    In June of 1944, America and Great Britain got together in the British Isles with a great amount of soldiers and materials to take on an attack. The Royal Airforce had played a big role in the bombing of Germany. British planes bombed by night, and American planes bombed by day. Early morning on June 6th, American and British soldiers were dropped on the beaches to secure routes. Within the first day of the battle, on Omaha beach, some of the Allies had a tight hold on Hitler's "fortress Europe"

    The Battle of the Bulge was an attempt to slpit the Allied forces. Germany had invaded around 50 miles in some places, but their advances were very short lived. Even though the U.S. suffered many lossed, they managed to keep the Germans at a halt. By the 26th og December, it was clear that the Germans didnt get where they wanted to go. They were fighting in insanely cold temperatures with a lot of snow, which stopped German advance. At the end of December, U.S. and British troops attacked

    to emiminate the Bulge. Under pressure, the Germans began to withdraw. The U.S. wasnt stopping. The Germans had suffered over 100,000 losses in this battle.

    Battle of Berlin
    The Battle of Berlin had ended Hitler's Third Reich due to Russia's victory. Russia had completely outnumbered the Germans in soldiers and equipment. Young kids and old men were out into this battle. Stalin had told two of his military leaders, race to the capital of Germany. Since they had so many soldiers, getting to the capital was failry easy. Russia had slowly taken over street by street. Eventually, Berlin surrendered to the Russians and the war had ended in Europe.

    Hiroshima/Nagasaki - Japan
    Mid-morning in Japan, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Within minutes, it killed thousands. The city waa devastated. Three days after, another bomb had been dropped on Hiroshima. Buildings had collapsed, electrical systems shorted, and fires were flaming everywhere. This bomb had killed over 40,000 people. These bombs had brought out chaos. With such bad conditions, Japan had surrendered unconditionally.
