Hitler invades Poland
Despite having a non-agression pact the Germans invaded Polands land in hope of gaining land previously lost because of the treaty of Versailles. It took only 2 weeks and with 2,000 tanks and 1,000 planes. I think that this was very selfish of Hitler. -
Hitler Gains Control of Western Europe
Hitler has control over Denmark, Norway, Neherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Then quickly defeated France. I think that Hitler was a very powerful man during this time, and obviously he was very sneaky when it came to doing his buisness. -
Japan attacks the Pearl Harbor
When the Japanese bombed the Pearl Harbor station, there was a lot of soldiers at that station. The bombing destroyed the entire Naval Fleet and swept away about a thousand lives. I think that this was a very sad time for The United States and this was the most frighting thing in the U.S. history besides the 9/11 attack. -
Germany invades the Soviet Union
This battle lasted for 6 months, but the Soviet defenders held out. The Germans were never able to take out the city. The Germans tried to do a lot of bombing to the Soviets, but the Soviets were so close that the Germans were also bombing their own people. I think that the Germans were obviously very stupid if the peole they were trying to defeat, outsmarted them. -
The Allies invaded Europe on D-day
The Allied forces first landed onthe beaches of Normandy in northwestern France. This invasion was a sucess. In August, Allied troops entered Paris. Then Germany was attacked, and the Nazis' defense fell. On April 30, Hitler commited suicide, and then a week later, Germany surrendered. I feel that this was a sucess for the Allied forces, but yet it was very devestating for Europe. -
U.S. drops a atomic bomb on Japan
A american B-29 bomber dropped the worlds first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The bomb imediatly killed 80,000 people, and whoever didnt die, would soon be dead from radiation. The bomb literally killed people in a 2 mile distance all around the bomb. Japan did not surrender, so another B-29 bomb was dropped 3 days later. This time it was dropped over Nagasaki. This bomb killed 40,000 people. I think that Japan deserved the payback, but it was still extremely cruel.
