Hitler was the leader of the Nazi Party. Hitler became the dictator of Germany around March 1933. He turned Germany into a totalitarian state. Almost all aspects of life were controlled by the government. Hitler used his power to kill 6 million people within his created Holocaust death camps. -

Hitler wanted all german-speaking countries in Europe to join Germany. The Anschluss was an annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany. -
The Neutrality Act of 1939
This act put all trade on belligerent nations under the terms of "cash and carry". The ban on loans remained in effect and American ships were unable to transport goods to belligerent ports. -

This is when German troops invaded Poland. This triggered WW2, in which Great Britain and France declared war on Germany. -

It was the persecution and annihilation of Jews, gypsies, Polish people, handicapped people, Jehovah's witnesses, Gays, and more. 6 million people died in these camps. They were all targeted for ethnic, religious, or national reasons. Jews were the primary victim, though. -
US oil embargo on Japan.
On this day, America froze the assets of Japan. This was appointed by FDR. It was in retaliation for the Japanese occupation of French Indo-China. -
The Attack on Pearl Harbor
It was a surprise attack on the US base in Hawaii, Pearl Harbor. The Japanese Navy Air Service was behind the bombing attack. -
The Bataan Death March
This was when the Japanese 76,000 captured Allied soldiers which were Filipinos and Americans and marched for about 80 miles. They marched across the Bataan peninsula which is a province in the Philippines on the Island Luzon. -

The US Navy defeated a Japanese attack on the Midway Atoll. It was an important turning point in the Pacific War. -
Battle of Stalinggrad
It was a major battle between German and Soviet troops during WW2. It ended with the surrender of the German army. -
D-Day
This was when the Allied forces invaded northern France by doing beach landings in Normandy. It is the largest seaborne invasion in history. -
The Yalta Conference
A conference held in Yalta. This was where Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill planned the final stages of WW2 and agreed to the territorial division of Europe -
V-E day
V-E stands for victory in Europe. It is a day of celebration of Nazi Germany's surrender of its armed forces. -

It was a clash between Japan and China. Japan surrendered in the end. -

It was a joint invasion. All 5 Warsaw pact countries, the Soviet Union, Poland, Bulgaria, East Germany, and Hungary all did this invasion together.
