    A Genocide is a killing of a large group of people. Throughout history there have been multiple amounts of Genocides that have been brutal and have left millions of people devastated. In the Holocaust over 300,000 Jews were put in concentration camps. More than 2 million Jews were killed and about 12,000 Jews were killed ever day. The Holocaust is one of the most brutal genocides in history. Allied powers made a homeland for Jewish survivors, which led to the creation of Israel.

    The Second Sino-Japanese War
    The Second Sino-Japanese war happened when the Chinese had a resistance to the expansion of Japanese influence in its territory. This caused a war between many casualties but wasn't declared until December 9, 1941. The western allies helped China become more powerful. The Soviet Union began to attack japan while the United States was dropping atomic bombs. Japan ended up surrendering which ended World War II.
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss
    On March 12,1938, Adolf Hitler announces "anschluss" between Germany and Austria. Which is annexing the smaller nation into a bigger and greater Germany. Hitler was told multiple times that he wasn't allowed to. However, nobody stopped Hitler, so Germany invaded. Due to the invasion, Hitler got approval. This is important because Germany combined with Austria. This showed how powerful Hitler really was. Anschluss gave Germany more power for World War II.

    Dunkirk is a military campaign during World War II. Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium. German forces were beginning to invaded France, which is where Dunkirk is. About 338,000 British Expeditionary Force and other Allied troops were removed from Dunkirk to England as German forces closed in on them. Germany had hoped that if they defeated at Dunkirk it would fix conflict. However, the “Miracle at Dunkirk” continued the war.

    On December 7, 1941, Japanese forces had surprise attacked the Pearl Harbor. They managed to destroy nearly 20 american naval vessels, over 300 airplanes, and 8 battleships. Due to this attack, it got the United States into war. The attack put american's into shock. It also pulled the United States in unity and gave them world power.

    During World War II, about 350,000 women served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Even General George Marshall supported the idea of introducing a women’s service into the Army. Women’s Airforce Service Pilots became the first women to fly American military aircraft. They freed thousands of male U.S. pilots for active duty in World War II. Women in the army during World War II empowered them. They also contributed a lot of time and hard work to save millions of lives and fight for their country.

    Battle of the Coral Sea
    The Battle of the Coral Sea was the first air-sea battle in history. The battle resulted from the Japanese wanting to take control the Coral Sea with an invasion at Port Moresby in New Guinea. There were Allied codebreakers that knew how to take down the Japanese and stop their plans. As a result, the Allied forces won due to the Japanese not having air cover. Having aircraft's in war or battle can help take down the enemy easier because your getting them from all angles.
  • Battle of El Alamein

    Battle of El Alamein
    The Battle of El Alamein marked the peak of the North African Campaign. This was between the British Empire and the German-Italian army. British commander Bernard Law Montgomery initiated an attack at El Alamein on German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. He attacked because he wanted to break this line Rommel created and destroy the Axis forces. The British were too powerful for Rommel, so he withdrew his men to Tunisia. This battle marked the end of World War II.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    This battle is known for being the largest, longest and bloodiest battle during World War II between Russian Forces and Nazi Germany. Hitler wanted Stalingrad because he thought it had a value for propaganda purposes.The Russians felt like they needed to protect it for similar reasons. Hitler announced that when taking Stalingrad, men would be killed and women deported. The Battle at Stalingrad was the beginning toward victory for Allied forces of Russia, Britain, France and the United States.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    This battle began when 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches. The Allies planned a campaign designed to mislead the Germans where the invasion target was. This invasion was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and took a lot of planning. Approximately 156,000 Allied troops had successfully stormed Normandy’s beaches and more than 4,000 Allied troops lost their lives. D-Day led France to Freedom.
