    In 1939, Hitler demanded Poland give him the Polish corridor in which they refused. Germany signed a non agression pact with the Soviet Union and both nations invaded the Polish country. The invasion was the breaking point for Britain and France, who finnaly declared War on Germany and began the second World War.

    The Battle of Britain
    HItler wanted to invade Britain after defeating the French, yet he had to get throught the British Royal Air Force to do so. Germany had a newfound confidence in war after conquering France, and with the more experienced Air force it was expected of them to prevail. The British and German fighters fought throughout the summer of 1940, and Nazi Bombers attacked London. Prime Minister Winston Churchill was confident in his nation, and gave Hitler his first loss, preventing a German invasion.

    Battle of Crete
    The battle of Crete to capture Greece, was a major Axis Airborne operation. It began in the morning when many German airborne landings on Crete, Greek and other Allied forces along with Crete civilians defended their island, which proved effective. After the first day the Germans had suffered significant losses, yet the next day was quite the opposite, Germans secured reinforcments and took over the Greek city within 2 weeks.

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    On the morning of December 7th, Japan underwent a suprise attack on a US naval base in Pearl Harbor Hawaii. This attack was the result of the US sending economic support in Asia, slowing down Japanese success. The Japanese airborne attack permanently damaged many US battleships and destroyers, as well as killing nearly 3,000 people. This attack brought the United States into the war, perhaps the most important turning point in the war which led to Allied success.

    This Airborne battle between the Japanese and US was Americas chance at redemption for Pearl Harbor. The United States defeated an attacking fleet of imperial Japanese Navy, which is regaurded as " one of the most consequential naval engagements in world history."

    This was a major battle on the eastern front where Nazi Germany unsuccesfully fought the Soviet Union for Stalingrad. This was the bloodiest battle of the second World War, marked by fierce close-quarters combat and direct assault on civilians in air raids. Stalingrad was important to both sides because of the major industrial hub.

    Allied invasion of French North Africa during the second World War. It was a compromise operation that met the British objective of securing victory in North Africa while allowing American Armed forces the oppurtunity to engage in the fight against Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. It was the first mass involvement of US troops in the European-North African Theatre, and saw the first major airborne assault carried out by the US

    Allied military operation during WWII fought in the German-occupied Netherlands, its objective was to create a 64 mile salient into German territory, creating an allied invasion route into Northern Germany.

    Also known as the Normandy Landings, it was landing operations and airborne operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy. It is the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France and the rest of Western Europe. Laid the foundations for Allied victory on the Western Front.

    Major battle in which the United States Marine Corps and Navy landed on and eventually captured the Island of Iwo Jima from the Imperial Japanese Army. The American invasion had the purpose of capturing the island with its two airfields: South field and central field. Overwhelming American superierity in virtually every Military field ensured defeat for the Japanese.

    Battle of Okinawa
    Battle of the Pacific Ocean fought on the island of Okinawa by the US Army and Marine Corps agains the Japanese Army. The initial invasion of Okinawa was the largest amphibious assault in the pacific theater during World War II. After a long campaign of Island hopping, the Allies were planning to use Kadena Air base on the large island of Okinawa as a base for Operation downfall, the planned invasion of the Japanese home islands.
  • Germany Surrenders

    Germany Surrenders
    Shortly after D-Day, the Americans Liberated Paris and were on their way to Berlin. The US Air Force bombed German cities by day and the British Royal Air force bombed them by night. This series of bombing was extremely dibilitating for the Germans and many did not want to fight anymore. Refusing to get captured, Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his Berlin Bunker. Germany surrendered shortly after.

    America Drops Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
    As a result of the refusal for Japan to surrender, the United states decided to test out its newest tool of absolute destruction. On the morning of August 6th, 1945, Japan was introduced to the new world record for highest temperature. The atomic bomb named "Little Boy" destroyed everything within a half mile radius of the bomb, even after this bombing, Japan refused to surrender and in turn the US followed up with another Atomic bomb on Nagasaki named "Fat Man"

    The US went on an "Island Hoppping" campaign with the goal of recapturing Japanese held islands that would serve as stepping stones to the Japanese Mainlaind. After the Atomic Bombs had been dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan surrendered shortly after. World War II was over.
