Hitler becomes Chancellor

Hitler was elected chancellor after elections. He promised to help the economy.

Invasion of Ethiopia

Oct 3, 1935

The league of nations tried to stop Italy but failed. The next year Italy turned Ethiopia into the "Italian Empire".

Munich Conference

Sep 28, 1938

Great Britain, France, and Italy met. They decided to give Germany parts of Czechoslovakia.

Kristallnacht

Nov 9, 1938

Kristallnacht means "broken glass". This is unfortunately very literal, this refers to the broken windows that are a result from anti-semantic demonstrations.

Non-Aggression Pact

The Soviet Union agreed to not fight with Germany for 10 years. They both promised not to attack each other.

Invasion of Poland

Germany invaded Poland. This sparked WWII.

Germany surrounded the Allies near Dunkirk. The Allies sadly lost this battle.

Also known as The Blitz. Lots of bombs were dropped on Britain from the Germans.

Pearl Harbor

The japanese bombed a naval base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Many US soldiers died.

Stalingrad

Germany and the Soviet Union fought. The Soviet Union won.

Normandy Invasion

Jun 6, 1944

Also known as D-Day and Operation Overlord, Allies landed on the beaches of Normandy, France. Thousands of men died during that battle.

V-E Day

May 8, 1945

The day the Allies won the war in Europe. Then the Allies paid attention towards Japan.

Atomic Bombings of Japan

America bombed the japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It took two tries to have Japan surrender.

V-J Day

The day when the USA won the war in Japan. Japan was put under the control of General MacArthur.
