Japanese Invasion of China
japan invaded China and fought a full scale war for 8 years. Japan wanted to control china and extend it's influence over it. It made China have more Japanese attributes in the way their government worked and other things such as art, music, etc. -

Germans quickly went through Poland and dominated it. They needed to show everyone that they were a nation to be feared of. That got everyone fearing Germany and preparing to face them. -
Germany's invasion of Poland
Adolf Hitler invaded Poland and broke the Treaty of Versailles. He did this because he was upset about the outcome of Germany from World War 1. He also wanted that land because it would be easy to grab. When he did this it started World War 2 and dragged all the major countries into it. -
Fall of Paris
The Germans marched into Paris and took over the city quickly. They needed France as a strategical city to have for the future. That got France out of the war so it worked for Germany -
Operation Barbarossa
The Germans tried to defeat the Soviet Union and failed. They wanted to try and get the Soviet Union army out of the war but failed in doing so. It was a setback and a turning point in the war. -
Pearl Harbor
The Japanese bombed America's naval base near Hawaii. They wanted to make sure America stayed out of the war. Unfortunately for the Japanese, America came into the war on the Allied Nations side. -
Wannsee Conference
The Nazi Officials met to discuss what they were going to do with the Jews. There were too many Jews held captive and they needed to put them somewhere else. They put them in concentration camps to work them to death. It was in Poland. -
Battle of Midway
The Japanese tried to take the base at Midway from America but lost. They would have neutralized the U.s> as a naval power. They ended up getting their dreams crushed and the U.S. pushed them back further. -
Operation Gomorrah
British bombers raided Hamburg, Germany at night. They wanted retaliation for what the Germans had been doing to them. They were loathing but they came to terms with the defeat. -
Allied Invasion of Italy
The British army invaded Italy at the peninsula and was successful. The Allies needed to take away some land from the Axis Powers for strategical purposes. This ended with the Allies taking over Italy in August. -
Operation Thunderclap
There was an operation to bomb Berlin. It would kill many people and make Germany angry. The plan was never put into action so we will never know what would have happened. -
D-Day
The Allies liberated Western Europe from the Nazi control. They needed to have Germany have less control of everywhere. That gave the Allies hope and it pushed Germany further back. -
Battle of the Bulge
This was Hitler's last major offensive in the war. They tried to divide Britain but it failed so they had to retreat. This gave everyone hope that they could beat Germany and win the war. -
Liberation of Concentration Camps
All the people who were in the concentration camps were freed and the truth about them was let out. People needed to know what was really happening to the Jews in the camps. People are still scared about what happened in those camps. -
battle of Iwo Jima
America invades Iwo Jima and was able to take it after a bloody battle. They wanted to take it so they could potentially invade Japan's mainland. It took away another one of Japan's airfields so that meant they had less of an air force. -
Battle of Okinawa
It was the last major battle in WW2. America took the victory against Japan. They took more land away from Japan so they couldn't fight back. It also helped in their surrender in a few weeks. -
VE Day
This day Britain and America celebrate winning against the Nazis. This happened because everyone was happy their reign was over. This shows how nations can come together if need be. -
Potsdam Declaration
It was the unconditional surrender of Japan. They needed to have some consequences for what Japan did in the war. It humbled Japan a little and they became friendly. -
Atomic Bomb Droppings
America dropped 2 atomic bombs on Japan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They bombed them because of the lives they took during the war and after. It haunted the Japanese for a while and still does. -
VJ Day
This is victory over japan day because they surrendered. America bombed them and celebrated defeating them. This day has not really stayed in effect since that year.
