- On September 1, 1931, Manchuria was attacked by the Japanese army. Ignoring the Japanese parliament they attacked anyway. The Japanese army then set up a puppet government.

Nuremberg Laws
- On September 15,1945 the Nuremberg Laws took place. The Nazi leaders were charged with waging a war. They were also accused of violating the laws of war and the murder of 11 million people.

Alliance with Italy and Germany
- Mussolini was convinced by the strength and power of Hitler to join the alliance with Germany. In October 1936 the 2 dictators came to an agreement known as the Rome-Berlin Axis. The 2 countries were now allies.

Kristallnacht
- On November 7, 1938 a man wanted revenge after the Geemans had deported his father. He shot a worker of the German Embassy. The Nazi heard the about the attack and attacked the Jewish community. On November 9, 1938 was the day remembered as Kristallnacht.

Invasion of Poland
- On September 1, 1938, Adolf Hitler surprise attacked Poland. German war planes, tanks, and troops invaded Polish land. Hitler began the bombing of Poland at its capital, Warsaw. The city fell apart under the assault.

Soviet Union invaded E. Poland
- On September 17, 1939, Stalin sent Soviet troops to conquer the eastern half of Poland do to a secret agreement with Hitler. Stalin then began to take over the other regions in the second part of the agreement.

Battle of Britian
- In the summer of 1940, German's Air Force began bombing Britain. Germany focused on bombing the cities especially London. Bombs exploded in the streets, kill civilians, set buildings on fire. Yet Britian fought on despite the destruction and loss of life. The battle ended on May 10, 1941 due to the fact that Hitler decided to call off his attacks. Instead he want to focus his attention on Eastern Europe.

France Surrenders
- On June 22, 1940, France was forced to surrender to Germany. The Germans took control of the northern part of the country, but left the southern part to a puppet government led by Pétain.

Lend Lease Act
- The lead lease act passed in March 1941, the president was able to lend or lease weapons and supplies to any country important to the United States. The U.S. Navy was hoping for the ships carrying U.S. weapons. Hitler retaliated to this by ordering his submarines to sink any cargo ships they met.

German Invasion of the Soviet Union
7.On June 22, 1941 Germany announced the beginning of a blitzkrieg invasion. The Soviet Union was not prepared for this attack, the red army was the largest army in the world but they were not equipped or trained. The Germans pushed inside the Soviet Union. The Russians destroyed everything in their enemies path but the Germans did not retreat. Their weapons became useless and Moscow had been saved and had cost the Germans thousands of lives. -
Atlantic Charter
- The Atlantic Charter is a joint declaration that two leaders issued to upheld free trade among nations and gave people the right to choose their own government. The Atlantic Charter later then served as the Allies' peace plan at the end of the war.

Pearl Harbor
- On December 7, 1941, the Japanese hoped to surprise attack the U.S. They attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. They had sunk and damaged ships and thousands of Anericans were killed.

Japanese Internment (in US)
- On Febuart 19, 1942 Japan had captured U.S. citizens and Japanese Americans and forced them into camps. They were forced to do hard labor and were killed if they weren't able to.

Battle of Midway
- On June 1942 the chief of the U.S. fleet knew that Japanese ships were coming to attack. The U.S. Was out numbered but were able to destroy 332 Japanese planes, 4 aircraft carriers, and a support ship. Japan was forced to withdraw its damaged fleet.

Allied Invasion of Italy
- On July 10, 1943 Allied forces of 180,000 troops came to Sicily and took it from Italian and German soldiers. The capturing of Sicily prevented Mussolini from gaining even more power.

D-Day
- On June 6, 1944 the invasion of Normandy took place on a date chosen called D–day. British, American, French, and Canadian troops fought to get their way onto Normandy. Normandy had protected themselves with large weapons and concrete walls. The Allies soon made a dent in the German defense and soon after that they are liberated France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and much of the Netherlands

German Surrender
- On May 7, 1945, Germany had excepted the unconditional surrender. Victory in Europe day was celebrated with the Allied power along with the United States. The war in Europe had finally taken an end.

Bombing of Hiroshima
- On July 16, 1945 the President warned the Japanese, he said that if they didn't surrender they could expect trouble. The Japanese had no reply. Therefore, on August 6, 1945 the U.S. dropped and atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Nearly 73,000 people died.

Bombing of Nagasaki
- On August 9, 1945 the U.S. dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki. It killed close to 37,500 people. Most people died due to the radiation.

- On September 2, 1945 the Japanese had surrendered. The war had then ended due to Japanese surrender.
