  • Invasion of Poland

    September 1, 1939. Triggered World War II, due to Nazi Germany declaring war. Germany had superior military power over Poland at this point.
  • Rescue at Dunkirk

    May 26, 1940. The successful evacuation of over 338,000 allied soldiers from surrounding German forces. Happened over the course of less than half a month, May 26- June 4.
  • Fall of France to Nazi Forces

    June 22, 1940. After an assault on Northwestern Europe, including Belgium, the Netherlands, and France, Germany took over a lot of land. France was forced to surrender under Nazi Germany forces.
  • London Blitz

    September 7, 1940. Was an intense bombing campaign led by Nazi Germany on the UK. Lasted for eight months where the Luftwaffe dropped bombs over London and other cities.
  • Victory at Stalingrad

    July 17, 1942. Successful Soviet defense of the city of Stalingrad. Nazi Germany failed in the attempt to capture the city.
  • Italian Campaign

    July 10, 1943. A series of allied beach landings and Land battles. Ranged from Sicily and southern Italy up the Italian mainland towards Nazi Germany.
  • D-Day

    Jun 6, 1944. More than 140,000 allied troops marched on the beaches of Normandy. A successful effort to take back France from Nazi Germany.
  • Operation Market Garden

    September 17, 1944. Included Allied pursuit of Nazi Germany's forces across France and strategic airborne attempt to invade into Germany. Lasted from 17-27.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    December 16, 1944. The last of Adolf Hitler's major offenses, and lasted six weeks. It was an Ally victory and took place in frigid conditions.
  • Victory in Europe Day

    May 8, 1945. The day that Germany surrendered and Europe got news of it.
