Neutrality Act
A law prohibiting the export of arms, ammunition, and impliments of war form the United States to foreign countries needing amunition for war. It forbids the arming of american merchant ships. With the creation of this law, citizens traveling were warned they were on their own when doing do. -
Mussolini works with Hitler
Mussolini, leader of Italy, promises to fight with Hitler if war is to break out in Italy. Mussolini ruled by Fascism, which was very simular to Nazism in ruling and superioristic beliefs. Though the alliance was made, it was more for convenience than for necessity. -
Munich Agreement
Hitler falsely promised peace to the British Prime Minister. He promised that he would make no more demands reguarding Czechoslovakia. The Prime Minister left feeling confident that peace had been restored. Shorty after; however, Hitler invaded Sudetenland, main border defence of Czechoslovakia. -
Nazi-Soviet non-aggression pact
By signing this pact, Russia aggreed not to attack Germany and visa vresa. When Russia signed this pact, Russia protected itself from a soon to be two-front war. This pact was brocken not two years later when Hitler bombs Russia. -
Germany invades Poland
Hitler sends his troops to invade and his planes to bomb Poland. By doing this, Poland declared war on Germany. Poland would have lost the fight if it had not been for the treaty them made with France and England. -
U.S. declares war on Japan
The day after the suprise attack on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. declared war on Japan. Before the attack, the U.S. claimed neutrality, not wanting to e involved at all.The U.S. tried its hardest to stay out, but after this direct act of war upon the U.S., everyone agreed it was time to fight. -
U.S. declares war on Germany
The U.S. declared war on Germany just hours after Germany declared war on the U.S. Germany thought, after the suprise attack on Pearl Harbor, that our military, navy, and moral would be so destroyed, that they could take us with ease. Little did they know, our moral was higher than ever and we were ready to fight. -
D-Day
D-Day was the bloodiest battle of WWII. Code name "Opperation Overlord", D-Day battle was the one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history. 156,000 American, Brittish,and Canadian forces landed on heavily fortified coast of one of France's Normandy regions. -
V-E Day
V-E Day was the day that Victory was claimed in Europe, and last day of the war in Europe. The German army had been all but destroyed and the soviet armies thought Stalin had already surrendered, so the armies surrendered. Stalin hadn't surrendered yet, but so many troops had, they ended up surrendering anyway. -
Hiroshima
HiroshimaAs the war was drawing to an end, China refused to surrender for pride reasons. America dropped the 1st atomic bomb named "Little Boy" on the chinese city of Hiroshima instantly killing 80,000 people. Radiation poisoning killed thousands just days after. -
Nagasaki
Three days after Hiroshima, the U.S. dropped "Fat Man", the second atomic bomb, in the chinese city of Nagasaki. Instantly killing 40,000 more. After thi, another devistation, China finally accapted to surrender t the U.S. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
Japan's airforce suprise attacked a U.S. naval base,Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii. Although the U.S. was staying out of the war, Japan though it was because they were weak. Japan decided to attack Pearl Harbor to neutrilize the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Japan though if they could take out the U.S., they would be able to advance to the East Indies to access more natural resources.
