Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor
This was the surprise attack that the Japanese planned against the Americans. It destroyed a massive amount of American naval ships and it definitely made the Americans really angry. That lead them to join the second world war. -
The Battle of the Philippine Sea
This battle was much more extensive than the battle in midway and coral sea combined. The Japanese had a larger carrier force than America so they were still at an advantage in this battle. -

About six months after Pearl Harbor, the United States defeated Japan in the first battle. The United States had broken their codes and they were able to get ready for the attack. -
Battle of Guadalcanal
The Battle of Guadacanal was another suprise attack towards the Japanese. However, it still took about 6 months for the Americans to defeat the Japenese. -
Battle of Saipan
The intentions of this battle were for the Americans to have a place to be directly in line with Japan's home lands. This battle took about a month for the Americans to win. Most of the deaths in the Japanese race were all suicides -
Battle of the Bulge
This was the second to last battle and Germany's last attempt to stop America from getting into Berlin. They weren't at their strongest and they lost that. -

The Battle of Iwo Jima
At this point America was 810 miles from Japan using their Island Hopping strategy.
This was important because they were in a direct aim towards the main land. -
Battle of Okinawa
The largest battle of the whole Island Hopping Campaign or the whole Pacific side war. 287,000 American troops against 130,000 Japanese troops. It was designed to destroy what the Japanese had left. -

This is the first concentration camp that America found. It was called the Ohrdruf camp. -

This battle marked the end of World War II in Europe. America sent in Russia ansd Russia put an end to Hitler's Theird Reich. -

The Soviets and the Americans join up by a river, technically "splitting" Germany in two.
