Carl Vinson was the longest-serving congressman in history. He served in the House of Naval Affairs for 16 years, and the House of Armed Services committee fo 14 years. Before Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, he had passed two bills that strengthened the navy, and "applying aircraft in national defense".

During the war, he led a comittee of five senators around the world to visit the war theaters and to report on the status of American troops. During this time, he also included strategic international bases for ensuring security and "maintaining world stability". He thought that if America's military powers were so strong, noone would want to challenge it.

The Bell Aircraft was a company that created aircrafts and helicpoters for the U.S. during WWII. The company also created the first Airacuda, the first WWII twin-engine.It was also the United States' most important developer and manufacturer of helicopters, aircraft, and rocket engines.

On September 1st, the Nazis invade Poland. This caused a major breakout becuase in World War I, Germany promied to protect Poland. Poland was very upset, and Europe sided with Poland.

The lend-lease act provided military aid to foreign countries during the war. This act also helped the U.S. enter the war. This enabled the British to keep fighting until events led America into the conflict.

THe Brunswick Shipyard was resposible for Liberty SHips, but also many other ships. In the war effort, the shipyard created 99 ships, but 85 of them were Liberty Ships.The ships were able to carry tons of cargo acroos the Atlantic Ocean.

The Holocaust was a mass murder of Jews, gypsies, the disabled, and anyone that Hitler despised. The Nazis, the anti-semitism group led by Hitler, started putting all of these people in concentration camps, causing them to starve to death. Many of them died because they were put in gas chambers, or creamatoriums. When this was all over, Hitler had killed over 7,000,000 people.

Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack by Japan on the U.S., specifically Hawaii. Over 2,000 soldiers died, and 1,000 were wounded. After two years, the U.S. finally entered the war.

The Savannah Shipyard was created for Liberty Boat construction.The workers there made 88 ships used in the war. Although it was only open for three or four years, it helped the war effot immensly.

D-Day was when the U.S., Canada, and the British invaded French Normandy's coast. It required a very long process of planning, and was the largest "ampibious" military assaults in history. This also prevented Hitler from sending troops from France to build up his Eastern Front against the advancing Soviets.

The Yalta Conference was a meeting between Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, and FDR. This happened in 1945, when the war was ending, and the 3 leaders decided to come to an agreement. Of course, Stalin soon broke his promise of free election, and the event soon became contrversial.

When this happened, it was earth-shattering to Japan. Ninety percent of Hiroshima was wiped out, and the explosion killed 80,000 people instantly. Also, because of the radiation, tens of thousaands of people would die days later.

Hitler did not get killed by other people, by himself. He shot himself with a gun in a refurbished air raid shelter. His wife also shot herself that day.

Since Nagasaki was industry for ship-building, it was bound to be destroyed. This was the bomb that caused Japan to surrender out of WWII. This bomb killed 60,000 to 80,000 people.

United Nations was formed to ensure peace bewtwen countries alll around the world. It is supposed to help get rid of international conflict (not completely), and helps the leaders negotiat, or talk things out, instead of starting a war. On Oct. 24th, 1945, the UN had become official, after 29 countries ratified the Charter.
