    During the war, materials such as gas, food, rubber, and metal were conserved. Women also replaced the men and worked the factory jobs left by the soldiers who went to go fight in the war.

    Act issued by FDR and congress that allowed the selling and transferring of weapons to any country in order to defend themselves from the Axis Powers. Most of the weapons went to Great Britain.

    The "Double V Campaign" was an effort by African Americans to try and end racism in the US, whike also defending their country. A. Phillip Randolph was a black leader of The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and advocated for equal opportunities in war jobs and the military during WWII. He also helped to end segregation in the military between whites and blacks.,

    The Manhattan Project was a classified project by the US to construct the world's first atomic bomb. Most of the planning and research was done in New York (hints at the name), by scientists and refugees from other countries. The first atomic bomb was successful and dropped later on to Japan.

    The Pacific Theater included the Philippines, the Netherlands East Indies, Australia, New Guinea, the western part of the Solomon Islands and some neighbouring territories. Most of the battles here occured between Japan and neighboring countries, including the US.

    Many Americans feared Japan would have another attack on the US, so, about 110,000 Japanese-Americans were forced into internment camps, allowing them to take what ever possessions they could carry. This also violated the Japanese-Americans of their constitutional rights.
