    Battle of Britain
    Germany attacked Britain in 1940 which led to an aerial fight that lasted the entire Summer and the Fall of that year. It ended in a significant turning point of victory for Great Britain in World War II.
  • Attack on the Soviet Union

    Attack on the Soviet Union
    Hitler decided to attack the Soviet Union in order to convince Britain to stop standing in his way. He thought it would be easy and he could crush them before the winter weather set in. At first the Germans seemed successful and continued on until eventually being slowed down by fierce Soviet resistance. They had planned a quick victory but were instead stopped in their tracks by a counterattack of the Soviet Union in December of the same year.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japan took the United States by surprise with a bombing attack on the crucial naval base, Pearl Harbor, with the aim of destroying much of the U.S's aerial units and allowing them to conquer Southeast Asia without interference. It was devastating, destroying 20 vessels, over 300 airplanes, and ending the lives of over 2,400 Americans. The next day, President declared war on the country.

    Battle of Stalingrand
    Germany attempted to attack the city of Stalingrad in Russia, and was one of the bloodiest battles in history with the Soviet's taking home the ultimate win. They defended their city as it was a vital center for industry and transportation, even with the Nazis so keen on capturing it as a launch off point for further attacks. The end outcome was a humiliation for Hitler, while the Soviet army stayed on the defensive for the majority of the rest of the war.

    The Allied forces freed most of Western Europe after an extensive production of misleading German forces through radio, ghost armies, and other methods as to where the attack would be taking place. The ordeal took many months of preparation and planning and turned out very successful.
  • Iwo Jima

    Iwo Jima
    The battle of Iwo Jima is an infamous one in American history. The island was desired as a launching point near the Japanese coast that the U.S could use for attacks. After a major battle lasting through February and March, resulting in the loss of life of over 44,000 Japanese and American soldiers, the U.S prevailed. The struggle proved to be a real one with the Imperial Japanese army heavily fortified within the land; underground bunkers and hidden artillery lining the entire island.
