    Governor of Georgia and US senator for 38 years. He brought 15 military bases to Georgia so Georgia could help i the war. He was one of the youngest people to be elected to the Georgia Assembly.

    Carl served 51 years in the US houde of representatives. He was considered the "Father of Two Ocean Navy" because of his spot in the Naval Affairs Comitee. He later recieved the presidential medal of freedom for his actions.

    The Japanesse sent hundreds of planes to attack Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. More than 2,000 soliders died in the attack and they destroyed 20 ships and 300 airplanes. The next day FDR declared war on Japan.

    160,000 thousand allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy. Thousands of soliders were killed but 100,000 troops were able to storm Europe. Over 5,000 ships and 13,000 airplanes were used in the attack.

    British, American, and Soviet leaders met to plan for after the war. Russia agreed to return some land to cou tries who had lost some to Russia and Japan. Russia, US, Britian, and France also got to split up some of the remaining land in Europe for countries.
