Transfer of 60,000-80,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war from Saysain Point, Bagac, Bataan and Mariveles to Camp O'Donnell by the Japanese army. The prisoners were loaded onto trains. I chose this event because thousands of prisoners were held by the Japanese. -
Doolittle Raid
An air raid by the United States on the Japanese capital Tokyo and other places on Honshu. US propaganda won. US and allies morale improved. I chose this event because the US raided the Japanese. -
Battle of the Coral Sea
This battle was fought from May 4th to May 8th, 1942. A major battle between the Japanese Navy and air forces from the United States and Australia. The Allies had stopped the Japanese advance. I chose this event because it was a battle between 3 ar forces. -
Stalingrad
Germany and their allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad in Southern Russia. Soviet union won the battle and destruction of the German 6th Army. The Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Axis powers, and Italy were all involved. I chose this event because Stalin was so determined to keep Stalingrad because his name was in it. -
D-Day
The Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during WW2 on June 6th, 1944. I chose this event because the Allied forces invaded Normandy. -
Iwo Jima
From February 19th, March 26th, 1945. A major battle where the United States Marine Corps and Navy landed on and captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Imperial Japanese Army. Battle ended with an Amercian victory. I chose this event because it was one of the major battles in WW2. -
Okinawa
A battle fought on the island of Okinawa. United States Marine and Army forces against the Imperial Japanese Army. From April 1st to June 22nd, 1945. Battle ended with Allied victory. I chose this battle because it was fought on an island. -
Battle of the Bulge
The last major German offensive campaign on the Western Front during World War II. Happened on December 16th, 1944 through January 25th, 1945. The United States, Nazi Germany, United Kingdom, Allies were involved. I chose this battle because it was the last major German offensive campaign in WW2.
