  • Germany invades poland

    Germany invades poland
On September the 1st, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, which was the ignition that started World War II. The day before, Nazi operatives had posed as Polish military officers to stage an attack on the radio station in the Silesian city of Gleiwitz. Germany used the event as the pretext for its invasion of Poland.
i chose this event because to me it was the catalast that started the World War II.

  • Britian and France declare war on Germany

Britian and France declare war on Germany
On the 1st of September 1939 Germany invaded Poland. Britain and France responded to this invasion by declaring war on Germany. Hitler didnt expected this as he wanted a war with the Eastern European powers but instead provoked the Western European powers. I chose this event because Britian and France were helping out on trying to stop the beginning of WWII.
  • France surrenders to Germany

    France surrenders to Germany
Germany defeated France and so on the 21st of june France signed an armistice with Germany, which provided for the German occupation of the northern half of the country and permitted the establishment of a collaborationist regime in the south.
i chose this event because i think it was a significant stage that indicated how much of a threat Germany was and how successful Germany was progressing in the war.
  • Germany invades Russia

    Germany invades Russia
Hitler invaded Russia launched Operation Barbarossathe.Stalin failed to respond quickly, and as a result the Axis forces were at first able to advance quickly. But Hitler was undermined by Russia's vast plains, harsh winter and rain. The invasion made Russia furious and a very powerful ally for the British Empire.
i choose this event becasue if Hitler had'nt of made the mistake of invading Russia, there could've been a high chnace that Hitler would of succeed to win WWII.
  • USA declares war on the Axis powers

USA declares war on the Axis powers
The US was not apart of the war until waves of Japanese planes from aircraft carriers struck the US naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, destroying half the US fleet. As a result of this attack, it ensured public support as the US declared war the very next day. This event, i chose as i think that it helped the Britian and the Soveit union in defeating Germany.
  • Fall of British Naval base in Singapore to the Japanese

Fall of British Naval base in Singapore to the Japanese
By the end of January 1942 Malaya had fallen and Singapore was directly threatened. Unfortunately Singapore's defence was poorly organised and hence British commander surrendered his army to the Japanese forces.
This was singnificant because of Britian's fall to the Japneses Australian looked away from the British and instead to the US and also Australia was indirected threat of being invaded.
  • Japanese bombs Darwin ( the first of 64 attacks)

Japanese bombs Darwin ( the first of 64 attacks)
Not long after the fall of Singapore, Darwin was hit in two Japanese air raids by about 90 bombers with fighter escorts. The Japanese air raids spread panic and fear in Australia. I chose this becasue this was a time when Austraila was under immense threat and Australia turning to the US for protection.
  • Japanese midget submarine atack on Sydney

Japanese midget submarine atack on Sydney
An attack on Sydney was issued but the Japanes were the Japanese ‘mother ships’ were dispersed in an arc formation outside the harbour entrance before each of them released a two-man midget submarine. I chose this event becasue it showed how forbidable Japanese were and how they were able to get all the way to Sydney Harbour.
  • Australians fight the Japenses along the Kokoda track, Papua, preventing them from taking Port Moresby

Australians fight the Japenses along the Kokoda track, Papua, preventing them from taking Port Moresby
On the 15 of July and on 23 July Australians first clashed with the Japanese at Awala. The Australians and Papuans were forced back all the way to Imita Ridge (50km from Port Moresby). The Japanses lacked supplies and forced them to withdraw in a fighting retreat and on November the Australians regained Kokoda. I chose this event because it was a very rough terrain and very inhospitable jungle, so it was hard for the Australians but it meant that they were able to push back the Japanese.
  • D-Day landings in Normandy, France

    D-Day landings in Normandy, France
On this day British, US and Canadian troops landed on the beaches of Normandy in France and began to liberate mainland Europe from Nazi occupation. I chose this event as i think it was significant as this was a turning point for the War in Western Europe as they started to push back the Germans.
  • Allies enter Berlin and Hitler commints suicide

Allies enter Berlin and Hitler commints suicide
Berlin, the capitial of Germany fell to the allies and Hitler married his long time Mistress before committing suicide inside his bunker. Now as the allies had entered Berlin and the death of Hitler occured, Germany had no leader and were under threat and that made the fall of Germany more imminent
  • The end of the war in Europe

The end of the war in Europe
On the 8th of May 1945 World War 2 in Europe ended with the unconditional surrender of Germany, the German surrender was given to the Western Allies with the victory.
I chose this event because it marked the end of WWII in Europe and to peace in Europe.
  • Japan rejects the Allied offer of armistice (peace)

Japan rejects the Allied offer of armistice (peace)
Japan was getting pushed back and defeated by the US. The Allies offered Japan an armistice ( a peace treaty) although the Japanese government was divided, in the end rejected the offer. I chose this event because its such a regretful mistake that the Japnese did by turning the armistice down i believe and it caused a major downfall and deaths.
  • Atomic bombs are dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Atomic bombs are dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
On the 6th to the 9th of an American bomber dropped the world’s first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I chose this event because it was a powerful weapon brought the end of war but at a high cost of lifes and of Japnese civilians getiing radiation.
  • Japan unconditionally surrender

    Japan unconditionally surrender
On August 14, 1945, it was announced that Japan had surrendered unconditionally to the Allies, effectively ending World War II. The emperor urged his people to surrender because if they didnt it could lead to the obliteration of Japanese people. I chose this event because it shows that Japan followed their relgion of 'fighting to the end' very seriously. It just shows how powerful and dedicated they were about the war and dominating and how it took such an extreme action until they surrendered.
