German forces invaded Poland; start of WWII. Hitler broke the Munich Pact which showed he did not care about rules or laws. -

Japanese attack naval base Peark Harbor, Hawaii. Caused the U.S. to become inolved in the war. -
Bataan Death March
76,000 allied prisoners of war, including 12,000 Americans, had to walk 60 miles to prison camps. Showed that Japanese leaders were relentless; far from giving up. -
Battle of Midway
Japanese Navy tried to lure several U.S. aircraft carriers into a trap but were badly defeated. Japanese tried to strategize, becoming closer to defeat. -
D-Day
Allied Powers stormed the beaches of Normandy in northern France and freed the French from Nazi control. -
Battle of the Bulge
Last major battle in Europe. Shows that Nazis were close to defeat. -
Yalta Conference
Conference held by heads of govrnment to discuss Europe's postwar reorganization. This helped Europe clean up WWII distruction. -
V E Day
Germany officially stopped military operations, ending the European conflict of WWII. -
The Bombing of Hiroshima
U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, three days later bombing Nagasaki, in hopes of ending the war. Over 130,000 were killed. Ended WWII. -

Victory over Japan Day - The day Japan Surrenders. This is the end of WWII.
