    Manchurian Incident
    The true start of the war was when Japan attacked Manchuria. Japan was becoming overcrowded and Manchuria held a lot of rescources the Japanese could use. Therefore, they set up an explosian on the railway so they could blame China, which would give them the oppurtunity to take over Manchuria.China went to the League of Nations, however, provided no help. This incident proved to the world that the League of Nations was helpless. The Japan Railway Incident was one of the factors that caused WWII.

    Battle of Britan (Operation Sea Lion)
    Hitler had been Blitzkrieging everything, that is until he got to Britain. On July 10, the first German air raids began known as Operation Sea Lion. However, because of radar the British were able to detect the air raids coming beforehand, therefore, allowing them to go into safety. Hitler continued to bomb everything, hoping that the British would surrender, however, many of the British survived. Britain was the first place Hitler had come where he had not defeated his goal, as planned.
  • Auschwitz Death Camp

    Auschwitz Death Camp
    Located in the southern Poland, Auschwitz death camp was the biggest camp of all the concentration camps. Locked up, people who did not fit in with Hitler's vision of a superior person were sent there. They came in trains, often lucky to survive these rides where people were crammed together, and there was not enough air or they froze to death. Once they arrived they were forced into cruel labor conditions often working until death orelse they meet the gas chamber. Very few survivors came out.

    Before the attack of Pearl Harbor on a lovely Sunday, the US had stayed primarily out of war. The Japanese, however, wanted to take the US fleet out of the Pacific. They arrived in two waves, the first to destroy all the aircraft carriers and battleships. The second wave was to destroy any remaining ships. Luckily, most of the US's ships were out on patrol and not in the harbor. The attack of Pearl Harbor lead the US into war.

    Battle of Midway
    The Battle of Midway was a true shock to the Japanese. Taking place on the Pacific, the Japananse had no idea that the US knew of their planes of attack from an intercepted message. Known as an air battle, the US sank 4 aircraft carriers and 250 planes, where the US faced minimual damage. This battle turned the US from being on defensive to offensive. This battle was the true turning point of the war in the Pacific.
  • Stalingrad

    Stalingrad
    In June of 1941 Hitler attacked Russia. In 1942 he made it his mission to conquer Stalingrad with the goal of the caucasus oil fields. As winter rolled in the Germans were unprepared for the brutal winter, however, Hitler would not surrender. Finally in 1943, Hitlers forces surrendered without his permission. The Russians killed almost all and sent very few back to Germany. Stalingrad was the turning point of the war, ending any chance of Hitler dominating Europe.

    Americans were scheduled to quickly take over the beaches of France, however, Germans lined the beaches with no escape. Quickly after the doors of the boat opened many Americans were shot. Soldiers who made it to the beach were considered lucky. The beach which stretched miles wide and had a cliff to climb making it nearly impossible to gain land. Finally, at nightfall the few Americans left were able to gain land and pass Germany. Omaha Beach will be forever remembered as a bloody battle.

    Many people were interested in the killing of Hitler, especially Claus Von Stauffenberg. He planted a bomb where Hitler was suppose to have a meeting, unfortunetly, it was hot so the meeting moved to a room with windows. The bomb went off and killed/wounded 20 people. If the room had no windows, however, it would have killed everyone, including Hitler. Hitler surviving only boosted his self esteem that he was intended to stay alive making him fight harder.

    As the US tried to take over Japan, one thing was clear; the Japanese were not giving up without a fight. So Truman came to the decision of dropping the atomic bomb. The first bomb the US dropped was called Little Boy. At 9:14 AM it exploded, killing 344,000 Hiroshima residents were killed within 2 minutes. The city was completely gone, vaporized. Even after this massive bomb dropping Japan still debated to surrender, it took an additional bomb to finally make Japan realize they should surrender
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    At a last attempt at victory, Hitler attmepted the Battle of the Bulge. Catching the allies by surprise, Hitler captured several key towns. This created a 'bulge' between the US and British foces. When the Germans came across the town of Bastogne American forces were adimit about not giving it up. Finally, the cloudy skies cleared up though and allowed American bombers to bomb Germans, forcing them to leave France, creating a victory for the Allies.
