Operation Barbarossa begins
Operation Barbarossa became the code name for the invassion of the Soviet Union by Axis power Germany. 4.5 million troops ivaded the lands but were pushed back from Moscow and failed to be vitorious. However, there were some heavy losses on the Red Army. The invvasion ended December 5th. -
Pearl Harbor
The attack on Pearl Harbor, known as Hawaii Operation by the Imperial Japanese Army ,led to United States entering the War. Three cruisers were sinked, three destroyers, 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed , 2,402 men died, and 1282 wounded. -

The Battle of Kursk is the costliest battle in World War II with a showcase of massive aerial warfare in the city of Kursk from Germany and the Soviet Union. It was the first strategy from the Soviet Union to result in success and it was also the first battle in whihc the Blizkrieg was defeated. -
D-Day
Under the code name 'Operation Overload' at 6:30 AM British, Candaiand and American troops landed in Normandy ,France on the coast line. The coast was divided into 5 sections, Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno and Sword. This operation was the largest amphibious invasion in history. By Mid- August, after the Allied troops broke out, they had destroyed much of the Grerman army and on September 16 they reached the German border. -

There have been various accounts of the death of Adolf HItler yet the most accpeted is the one with him swallowing a cyanide capsule while he shot he shot himslef. Witnesses report a shot being heard around 4 p.m. yet there is a lot of controversy within witnesses. -
The first atomic bomb dropped on Japan
On July 26st 1945 the Potsdam Delcaration called for a surrender of the Japanese Empire. It set an ultimatum that if they did not surrender they would face 'propmt and utter destruction.' The Jaoanese Empire ignored the declaration and thius the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
