Japan led an air attack on warships in Pearl Harbor, Hawaaii. The ships in the bay were caught off-guard and the attack was successful. 2,402 people were killed on the US side. -

The Battle of Stalingrad is important because it was a staggering German defeat. The Germans lost about 841,000 men. This battle was so important because Germany never fully recovered from those losses and was out of manpower. -

D-Day was the landing of US troops in Normandy, France. It was a major Allied offensive and US success. This event led to the end of World War II. Once, the United States was successfully on the Western Front and the Soviets on the Eastern Front the fall of Berlin, Germany was just a matter of time. -
Battle of the Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge was an allied victory that destroyed the final remaining German forces. Germany was trying to take all their remaining forces and move them out to Ardennes. They were flanked by the US on one side and the UK on the other. Also, a strong resistance at the town of Bastonge made it only a matter of time until they were defeated. -
Fall of Berlin
The fall of Berlin marked the end of the war in Europe. Hitler had insufficient armies after the Ardennes Offensive failed.The Soviet Union reached Berlin first and took control, when the United States came shortly after. The fall of Berlin is also known as VE Day. (Victory in Europe) -
Bombings of Japan
The dropping of the Atomic bombs destroyed Japan and finalized the end of the Pacific Theater in the near future. The first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and the second, three days later on the 9th was dropped on Nagasaki. These bombings led to the conclusion of the war that officially happened on September 2, 1945 or commonly known as VJ Day. (Victory in Japan).
