The FInal Solution
The Final Solution was when the violence of the Holocaust began. In 1940, Hitler decided to move Jews to concentration camps and death camps. Hitler had most people killed, and if they weren't killed when they first entered the camp, they would usually die working themselves to death wih little food, clothing, and shelter. -
France Surrenders
On May 26, in Dunkirk, 338,000 men were saved by escaping to great Britain. Paris was invaded and fell on June 14. France tehn surrendered on on June 22. -
Battle of Britain
The Battle of Britain was the time that Hitler began launching attacks on London to try and destroy London's Royal Air Force. Winston Churchill was the prime minister of Britain at the time and he would not surrender. This caused Hitler and Germany to call off the attack. -
Germany Attacks Soviet Union
Hitler launched a devistating attack on his non-sggresion pact neighbor. This was a big mistake on Hitler's part. It also caused the Soviet Union to join the allied powers. -
Pearl Harbor
The Japanese planned a secret attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. In the attack, 21 ships were sunk, 188 planes were destroyed, and 1,178 people were killed. It was the beginning of WWII. -
D-Day
On D-Day, 150,000 Allied troops landed on Normandy and France attempted to liberate them from Nazi control. It was the largest military mission in history. D-Day was led by the American General, Dwight D. Eisenhower. -
The Batlle of the Bulge
In the wake of the allied forces' successful D-Day invasion of Normandy, France, it seemed as if the Second World War was all but over. But, with the onset of winter, the German army launched a counteroffensive that was intended to cut through the Allied forces in a manner that would turn the tide of the war in Hitler's favor. -
Germany Surrenders
After devestating losses from the allies such as The Battle of The Buldge and the attack on the Normandy, Germany had a turning point in this war for the worse. In addition, with Italy and Japan quickly losing power, Germany was losing needed support from both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters. -
V-E Day
V-E Day stands for Victory in Europe-Day. It happened in Europe. One of the most famous pictures in history was from this day, which is the picture of an American solider that was so excited about winning the war that he kissed a random lady on the side of the street.
