Battle of Britain
The Battle of Britian took place between July- October 1910. This Battle was between German airforce and Great Britain airforce. After the Fall of France Germany's main target was Great Britain. German targeted Great Britain's airforce but later on moved to bombing targets trying to crush Britain's morals. The main cause of thid battle in the air was because Germany wanted to take control of Great Britain but thanks to the morals Great Britain prevented to invasion by Germany. -
Operation Babarossa
Junee 22-Dec. 5 1941 Nazi Germany and Axis began a massive invasion on the Soviet union. 4.5 million troops launched a suprise attack form Poland, Finland, and Romania. Operation Babarosssa happened because hitler claimed that the German population needed more territory and that German colonist should live in higher quality places. But the Union repelled Germany and axis forces and defeats them. -
Pearl Harbor
On Dec. 7, 1941 at 7:55 am JApanese naval pilots bombed Hawaii. Two waves of Japanese planes attacked fro the East and West side. The attack was made to take out the majority if the U.S navy because the United States stopped all natural resources from being sold to Japan and the U.S froze their bank accounts. Beacuse of this attack the Inites states declared war on Japan. -
Bataan Death March
On April 9th, 1942 American and Filipino prisoners of war marched a 63 mile mach forced by the Japanese soldiers. Approximatley 72,000 of people started marching but by the end of the walk there were nearly 10,00 prisoners dead. The death march happened because the Japenes wanted there prisoners to suffr on their way to camp O'Dowell. Because of this terricble march General Homma was sentenced and charged to death for his cruelty. -
Operation Overload
On June 6th,1944 American, Brittish, and Candian troops attacked En Mass-the French coastline Normandy. The Allies attacked Normandy because they needed to get Germany so that the soviets could not capture all of Western Eurpoe and turn it into a communist state. Due to Operation Overload the Germans then had to fight a two front war like in WWII -
Battle of the Bulge
On December 16th,1944 200,000 and more German troops and 1,000 Aldof Hitler tanks attacked France where the allied forces landed. The Axis forces were Germany, Italy , and Japan. The Allied forces were United States of America, Soviet Union, and Great Britain.The reason why Hitler sent forces in France was he wanted to seize control of it intead of the aliied forces. Hitler's planned failed and the aliied forces kept their control over France. -
Yalta Conference
Between February 4th, and 11th tU.s President Rossevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill II, and Soviet Premier Joseph met to dicuss the final defeat and occupation of Nazi Germany. These leaders met to make descisions regarding the future progress of the war and postwar. After the Yalta COnference FDR ensured that the Soviet Union participation in the United Nations when he was ill. -
V-E Day
On V-E Day Great Britain, Unisted States and the allied countries celebrated victory because the German troops over Europe let down their arms. When this event happened thanks to the Germans surrender this day marked the end of war in Europe. -
Dropping The Atomic Bomb
On August 6th,1945 a U.S bomber plane dropped a bomb on Hiroshima, killing thousands of JApanese citizens. Three days later another bomb was dropped by the U.S on Nagasaki. These tow Japenese cities were bombed because the United States wanted to put an end on World War II immediatley. Because of this these two bombs JApan surrendered to the United States and that marked the end on WWII. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
During the Battle of Iwo Jima 30,000 U.S marines landed on the Iwo Jima shores. When they landed they thought that the bombs they dropped killed most of the Japanese but the Japanese built tunnels and hidings which allowed them to attack the U.S from behing. Even thought the Japanese had a slight advatage the U.S won and gained control of the island and all of the Japanese airforce.
