Barbarossa was a major turning point causing Nazi Germany to fight a two front war against a coalition possesing resources.

    June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end on June 6, the Allies gained a foot- hold in Normandy. More than 9,000 soldiers were killed.

Hitler had convinced himself that the alliance between Britain, France and America in the western sector of Europe was not strong and that a major attack and defeat would break up the alliance. Therefore, he ordered a massive attack against what were primarily American forces.

    This battle took place in Berlin during April to may of 1945. Russia was victorious in this battle and with that they saw the end of Hitler's Third Reich. Russia outnumbered Germany in several ways. Most importantly soldiers, artillery, tanks, and aircraft.

    During this event, the United States hit Hiroshima, Japan with an atomic bomb at 2:45 a.m. This attack killed thousands of people. Approximately 350,000 total deaths were counted in result of this attack.62,000 buildings were destroyed in Japan also. Not only were Japanese soldiers killed, but there was also many innocent civilions killed as well. By innocent, I mean not involved in the war.
