    1.5 million German troops invaded Poland and attacked. German troops attacked Polish airfields, U-boats, warships, and naval forces. Hitler claimed they attacked Poland out of defense. The outcome was Britain and France declared war on Germany and World War II begins in Europe.

The conditions in Russia during the battle were freezing and snowy so most of the soldiers died during the battle. Also during this time, Stalin urged Britain and America to invade France.

    On August 6, 1945 the United States army dropped a huge atomic bomb on two Japanese cities; Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The only reason these two cities were chosen was because they seemed to be untouched during the war. The bomb that was dropped in Nagasaki was more powerful and killed more people.
