    Nuclear fission was discvered by German Scientists. Nuclear fission led to the discovery and creation of Nuclear bombs and Nuclear Reactors.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Germany Invades Poland
    Germany launches a Blitzkrieg against Poland with the help of the Soviet Union. They quickly defeated the ill-prepared and ill-eqipped Polish Army. The Soviets attacked from the West in September 17th.

  • Britian declares war on Germany

    In retalliation of Germany's invasion of Poland, the British declare war on Germany. England was an ally of Poland.
  • Itlay declares war on England and France

    Italy was part of the Axis powers, and so declared war on France and England.
  • Germany takes Paris.

    German air raids start bombarding Paris. Many people started fleeing, and 2,000 German Panzers role into the city. The government left on June 11th.

    France surrenders to Germany.
    With the refugees pouring out of France, the French government did not know what to do. They had no capitol, and no place to organize. Thats when Henry Petairn took control of the government and signed an Armistice with Germany.

    German Air raids on London

    The Germans bomb London to try and get the British to surrender. Many buildings and landmarks were damaged or destroyed. They managed to kill 30,000 citizens, but lost over 1,700 planes. The air raids stopped when Germany invaded the Soviet Union.

  • Germany stalls outside of Moscow.

    The cruel Russian winter stops the Germans outside of Moscow cold. The Russians have time to reorganize, and start fighting off the cold and unprepared Germans. The losses become massive.
  • US Starts Manhattan Project

    The Manhattan project led to US's development and creation of Nuclear weapons. These Atomic Bombs allowed the US to win against Japan without the V-Day invasion, but also led to the Cold War with the USSR.
  • Japan bombs Pearl Harbor.

    Japan bombs Pearl Harbor.
    The Japanese launch a suprise attack on the United States. The US was caught off guard, and 2,350 Americans were killed. The Americans were only able to shoot down 29 Japanese fighters. The US declares war on Japan.

  • The Battle of Midway

    After cracking the Japanese code, the Americans send the fleet to Midway Island. While the aircraft carrier Yorktown was lost, the battle was considered successful, and was a major turning point in the War in the Pacific.
  • The Battle of Stalingrad starts.

    The Battle of Stalingrad starts.
    The German army invaded Stalingrad in August f 1942. Battles were taking house-to-house, and eventually led to the defeat of the German 6th army. The Russians managed to kill 850,000 German soldiers, but at the astounding loss of 1,150,000. The Battle is considered to be the main turning point in the War.

  • D-Day

    D-Day
    The Allies launch there attack to land on the beach of Normandy, France. It is the largest military assault in history, with over 200,000 soldiers landing on the beaches. The worst fighting took place on Omaha beach, where the Germans were heavly dug in. The beach head was taken, and it gave the Allies a foot hold in Europe.
  • ME-206 goes into Service

    The ME-206 goes into service in the German Luftwaffe. The ME-206 was the first Jet powered plane ever to be used in service, and the first Jet plane ever.
  • V-2 Rocket Strikes Begin.

    The V-2 rockets, developed by Germany, were one of the first rockets to ever be used in a combat strike. While they are inaccurate, they could attack England from Germany, and allowed them to continue to bombard England.
  • FDR dies.

    Frederick Delanor Rosevelt dies after being president for 3 terms, and dies during his 4th. Harry Truman becomes President.
  • Mussolini captured and killed.

    Italian dictator Benito Mussolini was captured, along with his wife, by Soviets outside of Dongo, trying to run to Switzerland. His bodyguards killed him before they could capture him, and his body was hung up in Piazzele Loreto, then buried in an unmarked grave.
  • Germany Surrenders.

    After Hitler marries Eva Braun, they both commit suicide via cyanide capsule inside their secret Berlin Bunker. Afterwards, Germany's top oficials surrender to the Russians.

    US President Harry Truman authorizes and gives the order to drop a Nuclear bomb on the city of Hiroshima.

    The Second and last Nuclear bomb ever to be used in war was dropped on Nagasaki, killing 40,000-75,000 Japanese civillians.

    After the second Atomic bomb was dropped, peace talks started in Japan. They decided to end the war. With the surrender of the last Axis power, World War II has officially ended.
