Hitler invaded the Soviet Union for many reasons but the most obvious one was he wanted to expand his empire and he thought Eastern Europe was the best place to do so as he stated in his book "Mein Kamph". -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
Japan attacked Pearl Harbour (Hawaaii) because America were allies with China, who Japan was in war with. So Japan thought it would be ideal to attack and destroy all of the Aircraft Carriers in the pacific. -
Kokoda Track
Australia fought Japan in Papua New Guinea to keep Japan from invading Australia. -
Battle of Stalingrad
Hitler wanted to expand Germany, therefore planned to attack Russia (Stalingrad) because they were and are bigger in lande mass. -

Nagasaki and Hiroshima were both bombed by United States of America. -
Japan Surrenders
Japan surrendered because their plans to end the war had collapsed and the emperor accepted the proposed allied terms.
The surrender was announced on 15th of August, but took place on the 2nd of September 1945.
