Nazis take the Sudetenland (1937)-
On September 30, 1938 Nazi Germany, Great Britain, France and Italy signed an agreement that allowed the Nazis into Czechoslovakia. Nazi Fuhrer Adolf Hitler had threatened to take the Sudetenland by force. Czechoslovakia allies Britain and France, determined to avoid war at all costs and they were more than willing to negotiate with Hitler. -

Britain and France just gave it to Hitler because they didn’t want a war. This is bad because Hitler is just going to accept to get everything he wants and if not he’s going to use his power and war to get what he wants if you don’t give it to him. Some people believe that this event is what caused world war II. -
Germany’s invasion of Poland
Adolf Hitler first major “nonaggression” pact with Poland in January 1934. Germans that supported Hitler were not for this action.This happened because they wanted t o maintain peace in Europe. Neither Britain or France were ready for a war in 1938. -
German Blitzkrieg
The Germans wanted to make this was short. This part of the war was held in Europe. Germanys goal were to beat the Europeans fast. They did this by using “offensive weapons” such as tanks, planes and artillery. This attack method was called “Blitzkrieg”. -
Ribbentrop/Molotov Pact
This event happened because. The German-Soviet Pact let Germany attack Poland on September 1, 1939, without being scared of Soviets interfering on them. On September 3, 1939, Britain and France, having guaranteed to protect Poland's borders five months earlier, declared war on Germany. This is part of the reason World War II was caused.
The effect of this was World War II. -
Ribbentrop/Molotov Pact
This event was also known as “German-Soviet Pact”. It was named after the two foreign ministers who negotiated the agreement. This agreement had two parts an economic (what was signed on August 19, 1939) This part of the agreement was so that Germany would exchange manufactured goods for Soviet raw materials. The second part of the agreement was to ( signed on August 23, 1939) Was to make sure they would not attack each other. -
Battle of Britain
Churchill gave a speench saying the battle of france is over to the British people and thena few days later France surendederd. Then Hitler turned his attion over to the british. In the war the began sinking ships then they went to attack major cities like London. -
Nazi Invasion of the Soviet Union
Code name for this was "Barbarossa,"Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941,the largest German military operation of World War II. Hitler invaded the Soviet Union because He hit a dead end after failing to invade Great Britain.He wanted control of the Russian oil fields. (This was to spend less money for his war efforts) Hitler did not like Russia. The only reason he signed the non-aggression pact with them was to have help invading Poland. -
Pearl Harbor
The Japanese planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. They managed to destroyabout 20 American naval vessels, including eight huge battleships, and almost 200 airplanes. More than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and another 1,000 were injured -
Liberation of Concentration Capms
Concentration camps started to be used more often. There 10's of 1000's of them. Many of the prisoners had survived forced marches into Germany from camps in occupied Poland. These prisoners were suffering from starvation and disease. -
D-Day ( Normandy Invasion)
The attack began with 1,000 bombers attacking targets. This attack was followed by 18,000 paratroopers being dropped to capture key bridges and roads and cut German communications. The British 6th Airborne Division went threw a few casualties and succeeded in capturing bridges at the Orne River and the Caen Canal. -
Battle of the Bulge
The operation name for this was “Watch on the Rhine”. It was intended to split British and US forces in northern France.German tanks and several hundred thousand German troops broke through the thinly held American lines. Although the Germans advanced as much as 50 miles in some areas, the Ardennes offensive was short-lived. -
VE Day
It was the last of Hitler's war. With it came the end of six years of misery, suffering, courage and endurance across the world.
